NCAA Power Rankings

Dari Nowkhah has made amends from last week's ommission and put us down at the 8 spot.

did anyone of those ESPN voters have us lower than 9th? edit: yep, Goodman had us all the way down to 10th!

Keep it going, HAWKS!

Actually the oversight was confessed but not corrected. We were tied with OSU at 14th, and whaddya know, some moron left us off altogether? Another poster pointed me to the blog that said to bump all teams down until we're 15th. Which broke the OSU tie, which is why I knew we'd jump well into the single digits.

Speaking of teams that fell off our radar, I was impressed with what I saw from Xavier and absolutely couldn't figure out what their problem was. 15-4 now, steadily receiving votes.

Our preconference schedule that some many were denigrating, is looking pretty decent right now.

The irony there is the first game to catch anybody's eye: Notre Dame. I gotta hand it to 'em though, they were such good frauds they even got us to believe it.

That is a game I wouldn't give up for anything though. They stormed back, started taking control, and then Marble did what I've been watching and waiting for: Took the <bleep> over! His mannerisms changed, much like they did in all those NIT games. He's had good games, but I've never seen that type of confidence in him. Until the OSU game. We were a lot of things that day, but confident should not have been one of them. Marble changed that. And I think it all started with his binge against ND.

Did you watch the Xavier game? Marble single handedly kept us in that one.

That was more of a steady dose than it was pouring it in. Then his exit was inauspicious in and of itself so I kind of have the game as memory fodder for if we ever fall behind big. Or lose Marble for a crucial late stretch. Or both, lol.

John Gasaway is my new favorite. #5? I want to believe it but I'm not sure we have proved it.

To buy the hype and let it get away - when was the last time Iowa was a #2 seed?

He put Kansas at 4 and San Diego State at 17 so I can't really buy into what he's saying. I can't buy into the one who put us 14th behind Kansas State and Cincinnati, either. But I can buy into being 8 or 9 in all the other ones.

I believe he's the one ESPN columnist who has our backs via bias; he's from Iowa. He explained his ratings as Kansas playing more hard teams last week than SDSU will all season. That they were young and lacked discipline and in his opinion have shown overwhelming evidence they've matured, and still improving. Only thing SDSU does well is rebound, he said likely because they shoot like crap, lol. I can't argue with any of that but SDSU has some pretty good wins.
