NCAA national wrestling tournament brackets

Ramos vs. Long, Marion vs. Kennedy, DSJ vs. Taylor, Lofthouse vs. Reader, GG vs. Rutt (if GG gets there), Lofthouse vs Kilgore (not sure how this pans out), Raising vs. Trice.

You weren't joking! Wright didn't get a cupcake draw, as he would get the #1 seed in the semi's.

I can't wait!

I actually think that Ramos, Gambrall, Janssen, Luke Lofthouse, and Rasing actually got about as good as they could hope for. I'm just upset about the draw at 125 and 157 mostly.

IMHO, they put the 3 best 157 pounders in the nation on the bottom side (Fittery, Taylor, and St John.) I have NO idea how Hall got the 1 seed over Fittery! I would take St John over Hall but don't know that he can get through the gauntlet of Taylor and Fittery back to back.

Wow, cornell has a couple of #1's but they have some rough brackets. They will lose at least 2 on the first day. PSU's doesn't look to dissimilar to ours, and I don't have the patience, or care to look at OSU's draws. I can't take any team in the B12 seriously anymore.

Marion got a TERRIBLE draw as well. He would have been better off losing to Alton last weekend and getting the 6. He is going to have to be at his absolute best to get past Kennedy and Russell both just to get to the finals.

I really do like the Janssen vs Bailey rematch and I think that Caldwell is probably the most favorable matchup of the top 3 at 165. If he can find his way to the semis anything can happen and he'll already be on the stand.

I also see Ramos in the quarters and then Long is just as good of a matchup as Graff or Hotch would be plus it gives us a chance to meet another top team head to head. At least he's on the opposite side of Oliver.

I actually think that Okie St got some very favorable matchups and I think that they will be heavily in contention on the last day as well.

Robles is just as good as those guys. Long was lucky to get by him into the final last year. I'm more worried about McD facing him than Precin at this point so i'm glad he can get Precin to get to Robles.

I hate Ramos', Marions, DSJ's and Gambrall's draws. I think everyone else has a good road.

What sucks is those first 3 are 3 of our studs and could miss out on some big points.
And Ramos and DSJ could lose to PSU which would doubly suck for team race.

I don't like how they put us against many of the PSU guys early on... think that wasn't intentional by the committee? Pennsylvania bias anyone?

they are only bad if the hawks keep giving up leads in the 3rd peroid like they have been doing like montells 5-1 collapse

Thanks for the link. Is the first round worth 2 advancement points, one of the brackets makes it looks like it's all byes except for the one match.

Actually the first round you are looking at is called the "pigtail" round and every weight class has them (to get from 33 to 32). You only get the 2 points advancement if you win the next match, the same as if you got a bye. So if Gambrall and Ramos both win their next match after their pigtails they will collect 4 advancement points plus whatever bonus points.

HOW IN THE ___ IS MOLINARO THE #2 SEED?

Molinaro has 2 losses on the year: Mason (7th seed) and Dake (4 seed).

Dake has 2 losses on the year: Vinson (9th seed) and LeValley (3 seed).

Levalley has 1 loss on the year: Mason (7th seed)

He won the weakest weight at the Big 10s and gets the 2 seed. Unbelievable.

It should go 1. Caldwell, 2. LeValley, 3. Dake, 4. Molinaro.

I have no idea how McD did not receive the #1 seed. Defending national champ with only one loss this year (that he has since avenged twice) who has wrestled tough competition the entire year. Robles and Precin should have been seeded #2 & #3.
Not picking on Robles but his competition hasn't been close to what McD has faced.

157 lb seeds are a complete joke. No way Hall deserved the #1 seed

Here's how - the tourney is in his backyard. PSU got lots of bias in this bracket like Ironside said they would.

Now let's go out and do them a second time in PA like we did a few weeks ago.

Cael is a dick.

i.e - how does Long get a 3 seed?

for that matter (i keep asking this question) - how is Long even wrestling? He got kicked off of ISU this year and gets to wrestle for another D1 program the same year? How does that work?

It's crazy to me that between Iowa, PSU and Cornell there's only one #1 seed. This tournament will be won in the consolation bracket.

He got kicked off during the offseason. He wasn't on ISU's team at all this year. Also, wrestling doesn't require you to sit out if you are released. Since ISU pulled his scholarship when he was kicked off the team, the release wasn't needed.
