The mere notion of the NBA someday adopting a 4-pointer is believed to be an offshoot of a famed quote from then-Boston Celtics star Antoine Walker, who reportedly answered a question about why he took so many 3-point shots by saying: "Because there are no 4s."
Former Iowa head coach, and basketball innovator actually did tests with a 12 foot basket. It was noted that it had no negative affects on game play. That would be good for the NBA. Oh he also designed a new stadium for the university in the early 70s that was never built. He was a coach of many talents.
Nice interview thanks for the link. The expansion of the courts width would be difficult with the seats as Rod pointed out, length wise would be more practical. The reason I heard for court expansion was because players are too often stepping out of bounds ? What an absurd reason to look at a reason for court expansion. Any of you guys see a Vanderbilt home BB and see how far back the benches and stands are really seems weird.
I have never understood why the court size and basket height are the same for pee wee ,Jr high,HS,College and Pros. They have different size baseball fields for different ages.
