National media or NCAA needs to set the tone....

...after seeing tonights officiating debacle of blown calls (traveling, intentional fouls, 3-second violations not called, etc,), late whistles and such. How is ESPN or BTN is not making a bigger deal out of how poorly the officiating was?

They made a huge deal last year when ISU lost at home vs Kansas and that was only a few calls and a game that happened in the regular season with nothing on the line. With 63 games to be played, get all over this and let the NCAA know how crappy it was so these refs working the next 63 games are exposed if they suck at their job.

I am sick of seeing blatant calls missed and whistles blown after a guy misses a shot, etc. There are about 20 other calls that we all could chime in about that were missed, but there needs to be something done about how bad it was tonight.

I almost wish we had SEC refs or Big Ten refs tonight as they couldn't have tried to favor the team from their conference more. Then again, Sanzere hates Iowa and he was sitting at mid-court as a stand-in official so who knows what he told the rest of the crew.

Tim Donaghy has forever changed my perception of refs. How do you really ever know anymore? We live in a world where money rules everything. I highly doubt most officials would risk cheating, but it has happened before. As long as you allow a human being access to gambling on a point spread..it provides an interesting control factor to someone who can blow a whistle whenever they like

At a certain point your obsession with refs becomes a bad lunch line

I've never felt like refs have cost Iowa a game and still don't. However tonight was incredibly bad. I actually turned the TV off and went for a walk after Tennessee's and 1 to start OT. I didn't find out the final result until just after midnight. Incredibly frustrating to watch a game like that.

Iowa lost tonight because Tennessee is better. But its the exception now when you can get a NCAA crew that can call a game fairly and consistently.

If they are going to call ticky tack stuff. So be it. Just do it the entire game and on both sides of the court.

Doug Gottlieb is one of the few, who is unfiltered, about the officiating in college basketball.
It's like no one wants to criticize it, unless something goes against a Duke, a Kansas, etc.

Tim Donaghy is a great example. The NBA has no clue about his shadiness and only found out, via an FBI investigation.
And yes that Lakers-Kings Game 6 game was fixed.

Look at the wild Vegas swing with this game, and then look at the officiating.
Just sayin'. At least look into the smoke.
