Nate Said “You Know...” 36 Times In Under 3 Minutes

That’s a common deal for people who aren’t comfortable talking in public to help keep their conversation moving. I know, I did it too and hear it a lot

Most of us have a crutch especially when you are nervous or speaking in public. For a while there I was stuck on “does that make sense”.

Lot of guys get stuck on “you know what I am saying” even when I don’t know what they are saying I get why they lean on that crutch.

I average about 27 "you knows" for every post I type. But since I'm communicating in written, and not spoken form, I can edit them out before I send the post, you know?

I prefer those people who fill in the "dead spaces" of a conversation with blank stares, like Harbaugh, Ron Artest, my wife...are you aware I am talking to you? Could you at least blink?

Nobody likes a Know It All, you know?

It's a way of disarming people, so that he does not come across as some arrogant DB who thinks he is smarter than you.

He is saying a bunch of stuff that you already know, but he does want to act like he is saying anything profound (or interesting for that matter), so he adds you know to his statement.

I guess if you are a smart guy like me, you would already know what I was saying, you know?

I am guilty of that as well. I get the "deer in the headlights" look because I am slow at processing information. I suck at debating/arguing because I always think of stuff after-the-fact.

Public speaking is not a natural deal. I'd say very few people have the ability to seem comfortable and are able to basically wing it and sound completely at ease. How many rock stars have stated they had to be wasted to get up and perform in front of crowds.

My mother hated it. She was a genius one on one, but extremely uncomfortable in front of people.
I get so nervous, I don't shut up. I will get going so fast that I forget where I was. So it's either "ya know" or it's ""what was the point to what I was saying". I almost always remember, but sometimes the gap comes in trying to wrap it up and tie my side story or example into the point of what I was saying.

Basically........ I am not comfortable taking to people. The end.
