My own conspiracy theory (with no evidence behind it)

What if Texas wants in the Big 10?

What if the Big 10 wants Texas, but knows that it can't take Texas by themselves?

What if the Big 10 invites both Texas and Texas A&M to the Big 10, which creates a "Baylor problem" or a "Tech problem"?

What if the Big 10 takes Nebraska and knows that will put the Big 12 at risk, putting Texas into play?

What if Texas and the Big 10 get caught off-guard by the Pac-10's offer to take Baylor and Texas Tech?

What if Texas and Texas A&M conspire to appear that Texas A&M is unwilling to joing the PAC-10, but would like the SEC and that Texas would like to join the Pac-10, but is unwilling to joing the SEC?

What if, despite all their struggles  to keep the Big 12 together (which wasn't possible thanks to Nebraska and Colorado) and to keep the Texas family together in the Pac-10 (which wasn't possible due to Texas A&M) that the only compromise that can keep Texas and Texas A&M together is for both to join the Big 10?

What if the Texas legislature will have to accept a "Baylor" or "Tech" problem to avoid an "A&M" problem?

I've got nothing behind it other than I wish it were true :D

Patience my friend. In time Texas and Texas A&M will seek the Big Ten out. ...Tuesday, to be exact... Only together can they be turned to the dark side of the Force.

The key point here is Texas can't join the Big Ten alone. They need at least one other TX school, or Oklahoma, to join them. Otherwise they introduce a severe intra-state recruiting disadvantage ("son, come play for Texas where all your road games are halfway across the country"), and also screw spring sports like baseball which are very important to them.

I can't see the B10 stomaching Oklahoma's weak academics (and no AAU membership), so A&M is the obvious choice, but they seem hell-bent on the SEC currently. Unless/until that changes, TX is not joining the Big Ten.

It's a big internal debate. As reported elsewhere, the TX president wants B10, the AD wants Pac-10. This is why arguing about Chip Brown's veracity is pointless; TX itself isn't sure what's going to happen, so there's no "truth" to report yet.

Texas doesn't want the big 10. they want no part of Indiana getting the same $ amount as they would.

Texas is in love with Texas.

I imagine Texas will try to negotiate with the Big Ten a "special" deal for UT (keeping their rights to produce a BEVO network ) Which is a TERRIBLE TV network name anyways...but the Big Ten won't have it so UT will take their ball and go home.

Which is good...I'd probably quit if UT came to the league...can't stand them or their fans.

If Texas is truly in love with Texas, it needs to stay in the Big XII, where it can continue to dominate everybody else. But will there be anything left to dominate?

What if A&M goes to the SEC? What if just one school (like Oklahoma) gives in to the Pac 10?

This crazy train isn't stopping anytime in the near future.

Can't believe the Big Ten didn't conquer Kansas City, which was there for the taking. Add Kansas and Mizzou with Nebraska, you dominate Kansas City, and you get St. Louis as a bonus.
