I see Keno has all of a sudden been mentioned as the savior of Iowa basketball ... I think he would be an okay fit at Iowa but my how times have changed ... This is why Barta needs to make a change sooner than later ... We have fans calling for a coach who has some nice credentials but honestly, if this was 10 years ago fans would not think twice about the a coach like Keno Davis ... He seems to be doing a nice job at Providence but the sad fact remains would he even want to come back to Iowa ... Iowa is no longer a high-profile job in the basketball world ... Sure, a mid major coach might jump at the chance because of the money a school like Iowa can offer, but no big name coaches would even look twice at Iowa and that was not the case 10, 15 or 20 years ago ...
I was just talking to a buddy the other day as we made our way in to work in downtown DSM ... And we both were saying "thank God we have a wrestling program" otherwise Winter would really suck ...
You know, this really does suck ... And the message and attitude toward the program are the same with all of my Hawk co-horts ... They no longer make the trek from DSM to Iowa City. They have lost interest in the program and in college basketball in general ... Many of them say they don't even pay attention to when the Hawks are on tv ...
This is not two out 10 of my friends saying this ... This is all of them ... All of them ... I would guestimate I have about 60 friends who I would consider die-hards and not one of them (not ONE) thinks Lick should be back next season. That is not a fan base divided. That is a fan base that has quit ... That is just my small group of friends ... It's overwhelming ... Yet, we have some fans who keep trying to fight the fight in keeping Lick and we have an athletic director and Marketing department who now has to use the football team in marketing plans to get fans to come to Carver ...
Barta ... pull up those bootstraps ... Move forward and admit this was not a good fit and let's move on ... No more 'wait 'til next year.' ... No ... we don't want to be the Chicago Cubs of the Big 10 ... The time is now ... Iowa basketball is a disgrace ... This is Lick's mess .. Year No. 3 and this is his doing and his doing alone ... Boy Wonder is gone ... This is Lick's team ... Lick's program ... Let's end this tragedy
