No argument here, although I wonder if Boise State could garner enough support from poll voters to be #1 in the major preseason polls.

Boise State at #1? Really? Have you been drinking?

Boise St returns 21 of 22 starters. They will get preseason #1 votes for sure next year. They may not be ranked #1, but this is just Deace's personal rankings. Not what he thinks the AP top 10 will look like.

I dont have any problem with Boise State. If you feel they are good enough to be in a season ending Top 5, they return more than anyone does next year. No problem with that at all.

seriously someone needs to step up and play them and beat the snot out of them! They want to play anyone, anytime, anywhere. Iowa should offer them an invite to Iowa City next fall, take Ball state off the schedule and move boise in to that spot!

They seem to only play tough competition at the beginning of the year. I remember a few years back they played Georgia in like mid october and got steam rolled! I just don't think they are that good, they come from an inferior conference and they truely do not play the level of competition that the BCS team see week in and week out!

I think Alabama will get the Pre-season #1 followed by Boise St.

My 2010 Pre-season top 10 like.

1 - Alabama
2 - Boise St.
3 - OSU
4 - Oregon
5 - USC
6 - Iowa

Add who ever you want after the hawks ;)

Boise St plays Virginia Tech at Fed Ex Field in Washington DC next year and plays Oregon State at home. So they have a couple of good games. They can prove themselves for sure against VT.

I could not put USC in the top 10 until they prove they have fixed the problems with their defense. While I fully expect that they can, I would have to see it first rather than just throwing them in the top 10 on reputation.

Not poking at you, but USC? Just curious what you see to get them that high...

They only have their non-conference games listed as of now...the Va-Tech is going to have major implications.

Sat, Sep 11 Toledo Boise, ID (Bronco Stadium) TBA

Sat, Sep 18 Wyoming at Laramie, WY TBA

Sat, Sep 25 Oregon State Boise, ID (Bronco Stadium) TBA

Sat, Oct 02 Virginia Tech at Fed Ex Field TBA

I'm with you on USC...they don't deserve to be preseason top 5, but there's a good chance they'll be in the top 10. They should really start at around #15 or so.

I think Boise St. will be in the top 3 or 4, but I have a hard time thinking voters will place them at #1. I'd give Alabama the top spot.

Let's just hope that Boise St. loses a game or two, otherwise, they'll be in the NC game next year for sure. Even if Iowa went undefeated, they might keep us out.

They can prove themselves for sure against VT.

The problem is that they can't really prove themselves after that.

If Boise St beats Oregon St and VTech, would anybody really still want them to remain #1 the remainder of the season with the rest of the competition they'll play? I seriously doubt it.

Until Boise upgrades their schedule they are dead to me Fredo.

You have to be completely insane to rank Boise State #1 next year. According to Sagarin, Boise State played the 96th toughest schedule in the nation this year. 96! Idaho played a tougher schedule than Boise State.

They shouldn't even be ranked in the top 20. Their schedule is a complete joke, and until they start playing tougher competition, they should not be in national championship discussion.

Put them in any of the major conferences and I guarantee you they don't lose less than 3 or 4 games.

I also feel the same way about TCU and Cincinnati: Overrated because of easy schedules.

That's the problem with pairing Boise St. and TCU up in a bowl game. They need legitimate teams to play against to prove themselves. Boise isn't getting any respect for beating TCU in the Fiesta Bowl, where they might have had they beaten a Big Ten, Big Twelve, or SEC big name.

I came away from watching this year's Rose Bowl with immense respect for Ohio State...and they are just as young as Iowa.

Terrell Pryor is scary when he's on. I realize everybody said this last year...but if his performance in the Rose Bowl was any indication...and he can continue to improve this offseason...uh oh. He really can be very similar to Vince Young and he seems to have found a favorite target in Devier Posey who as a freshman was very good.

My favorite player on their team though is their Freshman fullback...the guy is a beast. I had seen him a couple times this year and he's just plain mean and he hits hard. (I didn't see him much against Iowa because I was at the game and...well I was drunk...and I'm not a very disciplined football watcher when I'm drunk). Any good KC Chiefs fan can tell you just how much of a difference a good fullback makes.

Again...this is why preseason rankings shouldn't hold nearly the weight that they do...because if I am wrong about Pryor having "arrived" next year then that changes a lot but if he lives up to his potential I don't know that there is a better team in the country.
