Moving on...

Tough loss...no doubt. I love the Hawkeyes as much as anybody, but there needs to be some level of rational thinking here too. 1st of all, for those of you that posted Iowa would win by 20 or more...you were out of your minds to begin with. In the modern day world of college football, most teams aren't going to win by those margins. Especially against other BCS conference schools at their place.

2nd, the last time I checked, football is a 3 phase game and Iowa simply didn't show up to play one of them for large portions of last night. A team that is championship caliber (doesn't mean Iowa can't get there) doesn't allow a blocked punt, 100 TD kickoff return TD, and have an extra point blocked. Some people are dismissing those points as lucky...it is part of the game and if Iowa would have done those things with their special teams...I guarantee people on here would have told Arizona fans it is part of the game.

3rd, in big games, big players must step up. Iowa simply didn't have enough of them last night. All the excuses I am hearing here about the close misses last night simply shows that the players didn't step up as much as they needed to. Every team in every game has those moments. Fortunately, Iowa has tended to make more of those plays than they have not. It simply didn't happen last night.

Lastly, be proud of the fact Iowa didn't lay down. There is a TON to still like about this team. They will match up very well with most teams down the stretch and I am confident the special team and offensive line issues that arose last night will be corrected. Yeah, the last offensive drive was bad, but the offensive line actually did a fairly decent job stopping the blitz on pass plays up till that point. The big concern now is depth at running back. Paki looked like he has his bell rung last night and nobody seems to know what is going with Jewel's leg.

This team can still do HUGE things. There isn't anybody on the remainder of the schedule they can't beat. They will get better and better just like the vast majority of Iowa teams under Ferentz do. Lets make Kinnick loud next week. It is still one of the greatest places on earth to spend a Saturday.

Please try to enjoy the rest of the weekend Hawkeye Nation, can't worry/get worked up over what we can't control. What is done, is done.

Good post and all of us, like the team, need to move on and concentate on what can be accomplished in the Big Ten. It will take a day or two to get to that point. It isn't very often at Iowa we are in a position to possible be on top of the whole mountain. Expectations were, are, so high, and may not have been totaly realistic. But then I would rather have been in the position to be able to try to reach it, than never even having the chance. As it notes at the top of this thread, lets move on. Lets win The Big Ten!!!
