Since we are trying to figure out just how strong the Iowa job is...thought this recent Forbes Magazine rating of the top 20 most valuable college bb teams was germane.
I just jotted down net profit from last year which is one of the main critieria for the rankings.
1. UNC- 17.7 million profit
2.Ky- 16.1
3.Louisville- 16.9
4.KU- 15.2
5. Illini- 13.9
6.IU- 14.2.....6 million in seat donations
7 OSU- 11.4
12. Wisc- 10.1
15 Xaiver- 9.1 4.2 million in seat licenses.
16 Tenn- 8.6
17 Minny- 8.9
19. MSU- 6.6
20 UNLV- 8.3
Overall by conference in the top 20:
Big 10- 6
ACC- 3
SEC 3
Big East 3
Pac 10 2
Big 12 1
A-10 1
MountW 1
So, for those who wonder how much of an impact a successful bb program can have on the bottom line....look at Minny...they were never in the top 20 in prior years rankings.
AS for the Big Ten attractiveness for a prospective coach...well, the numbers speak for themselves.
The Big Ten has led college bb in attendance since they have been tracking it.
Iowa can be a very attractive job,and if it is done right, a very profitable program.
Go get the right guy,Gary.
