Good thing this behavior is not inherent to the sport and nothing ever happens in the US.
The thing is youth sports are just out of control with parents that are trying to live through their children. So many were not athletes themselves, but think that they were and their kids are All-Americans, when they aren't. I just witnessed some wonderful behavior last night. A parent approached a coach saying "I am not upset, but don't you find it odd that out of 90 minutes my kid has played 2?" An FYI here; the games were broken into 40 minutes and the team still had 23 minutes left to go in their second game.
This guy was complaining about everyone else making mistakes, pulled his kid away from the bench and kept asking his kid if "this was normal?"
In the real world the kid has limited athleticism and has no feel for the game, but don't tell mom and especially dad.
The funny thing is after he was told that his kid left early and missed a couple things and also told that the kid had a schedule, he changed his tune and then absolutely went off on his kid afterwards making a spectacle of himself.
As much as kids are out of control when it comes to entitlement; there is a reason for it, the parents are just as nuts.
This wonderful game called soccer will continue to have these types of events and it will be more and more the longer the sport is around.
