I look at that mascot as a proud representation of the Great Sioux Tribe of the Plains. I see nothing rascist at all.

THIS I agree with .. .. sort of. Yes .. the winner of the tourney gets the autobid and that's a choice the B1G makes. It gives teams like Pur, Neb, PSU, and NW hope of getting into the Dance by getting hot and winning 4 in 4.
But it doesn't take away from the regular season and what Indiana accomplished. (I'm still not impressed.) Indiana will make the dance (probably as a 1 seed) on the merits of their regular season. As will OSU, MSU, Wis, Mich, and Ill. I still think Minn and Iowa have work to do and need to show well in the BTT. Everyone else needs to win 4 in 4.
But .. This is true ..

Congrats everybody. You have turned this thread ripping on Tom Crean into a thread that is ripping on the Iowa basketball coach that has had the most success in the past dozen or so years.
I've never understood Iowa fan's fascination with the state of Indiana. You hate Notre Dame football and you hate Indiana basketball.
You can't tell me that if Fran went up to Licklighter or any of the old assistants and did the same thing Crean did, that you wouldn't be talking about how awesome Fran is. You guys hate licklighter and all he did was suck, he didn't cause the program to diminish by scandal. Now imagine a proud program like Indiana being as far down as they were. You don't think there's any animosity towards the last regime?

Pretty much everybody in the midwest hates ND football if they arent a fan of them and a lot of people, especially in the B1G, hate Indiana basketball. Why would you assume the hatred is exclusive to Iowa?

Wrong. Lick was quite a downgrade from Alford, but no one hated the guy personally. If Fran was a doosh to him, people would be like "what up Fran, that ain't cool." Maybe people would like to see Ferentz go after Bert for stealing committed players, but Kurt would never do that because he has something that is common among all Iowa fans, class.

(Sorry .. .. I'm gonna byte on this one.)
Three things:
- If you're not a Notre Dame football fan, you hate Notre Dame. It's as simple as that. There is no in between.
- From what I've seen and IMHO, Fran has more class. I've never seen him get on the case of ANY coach or opposing player. I'm not saying he hasn't and with his passion and fire it wouldn't surprise me. But from what I've seen, he saves his tirades for his own team. (And the occasional ref.)
I used to like Crean. As a casual observer in Wisconsin, I liked what he did for Marquette. But what I've seen lately makes me cringe.
And to answer your question - HELL YES I'd be angry and embarrassed if Fran DID do that on a regular basis. - Imagine a proud program? Really? At one time Iowa WAS a proud program. In fact, Iowa is listed as one of the top 10 programs of all time!! Iowa started a slow death in the early part of the 2000s that was completed at the close of the decade. Fran is bringing the Hawks back to life and making them relevant again.
So go troll elsewhere!!

WTF did i just read? fans of one team hate a program from the same conference!? well this is an incredibly new phenomenon. i will contact the local news stations to see if they have someone reporting on this. Tork, i assume you're already researching this?
there is a time and place to do things like Crean did. i expect iowa coaches(in any sport) to have enough class to know that.
