More Midlands thoughts

Just gonna pass along a few thoughts for folks to chew on.

McDonough - starting to look like old self. Limped off pretty ugle after his semi so I was a bit worried after that but looked dominant in the final.

Ramos - looked great both days. The VT wrestler is the real deal BTW. Ramos got caught sleeping on 2 ankle picks and it cost him the match. That is something Ramos can fix and work on. Ramos will be fine.

Marion - starting to worry me a bit like he always does. The guy just needs to get agressive with his offense early and he would be fine. Maples is also the real deal but Marion should beat him if he would wrestle aggresively.

Kelly - I like it. He can qualify and score some points at nationals. Maybe a guy that can place 8-12 and contribute some points. Better than anything we've had since Metcalf.

Moore - A bit disappointed. He seems to have trouble with the guys that have some funk to them. The Clarion guy that beat him first round was really funky. That was a close match up until Moore got pinned at the end. Moore had a nice single leg twice on him and the clarion guy just swung his hip and other leg around like he was riding him and got the two. I saw him do it to a few guys after Moore as well. The pins are concerning. Moore needs to step up and go the 7 minutes. We will need DJS if we are going to be legit title contenders.

Evans - mixed on him at this point. I think he will be a great wrestler going forward for us. He got a lesson from Fittery but finsihed strong with him. The Clarion kid beat him up which surprised me a bit. I expect so see some big improvements from Evans over the next couple months as I think he is that good of a wrestler.

Lofthouse - looked good up until the final. The Munster kid looks good though. Lofthouse needs to work on getting angles with his single leg. Something he has never done real well but is was a glaring issue in the finals.

Wagner - OK option. He might qualify for the finals but I don't think he has a chance to do much damage this year for us. I still think we need Gambrall here.

Gambrall - he may be still getting his legs under him but really would like to see this tourney motivate him to cut to 184 again. His is probably a 8-12 place winner at 197 while you figure he is a title contender at 184.

Telford - this guy is good. Legit title contender this year. Should have won that last match. You just feel that he is just getting started too. I think Ferentz would love to steal this guy from Brands and put him at Left Tackle next year.
