More chances to get pumped up

It seems like we've seen more media appearances from Coach Mac in the first week as Iowa coach than we saw from Lick in his first year here.

This is what will influence the program to be good again. Coach needs to be personable and hes doing a great job.

This is the best thing he can do right now. He can sell potential. The sky's the limit, and the people he's recruiting against can't point to a record (at Iowa) that says he can't do what he says he can.

The media can be your friend if you use it right....good to see Fran is not afraid of the microphone.

I live outside the area. Every reference I hear about FM, basically takes for granted that he is a coaching star. Funny how people in Iowa were so unfamiliar. He has a really good reputation in other areas.

I won't make any assumptions about where you leave, but if I did I would say out East (Or perhaps someplace like Ohio). I would guess that we were pretty shut off from "mid-major" coaches. There was really just one that we wanted initially (Barbee). If we'd all just sat down and really considered "mid-major" coaches up front (since that was what we were going to get whether we liked it or not), I'm sure McCaffery eventually would have come up.

Then again, McCaffery said at his PC that he was very happy with where he was, so there wasn't any reason to think he wanted out.

He is working his *** of to sell Iowa basketball. I have already heard more from him in his first week than I heard from Coach Lick in the last year. It's hard not to like the guy when you hear him talk.
