More allegations of abuse at Rutgers

Rutgers should be an easy W in most sports once they join the B1G but holy cow they are going to bring a less than stellar reputation to the conference. This after the much-publicized video of their former basketball coach physically and verbally abusing players, the firing of the AD and the hiring of a new AD who has her own abuse allegation skeletons in her closet. New Jersey media exploding with stories on this latest scandal.

'bullied'. we are inundated with this (all the anti-bullying talk in schools, example) at all levels of society - from grade school to the highest levels of professional sports. not sure what is going on.

What do you mean you do not know what is going on? Are you saying people do not get bullied and sometimes mercilessly bullied? Are you saying we should not try to protect weaker people and protect people who bully.

These old days of grabbing players by their facemasks or hitting them or verbally abusing players is getting so old. These people are in leadership positions and they need to act like good leaders.

I think he's just saying that we may be over-labeling and over-reacting to a problem. That doesn't mean the bullying problem isn't real or doesn't need to be addressed. It's just means that overcorrection is a real thing as well.

That said, the assistant coach going off like that is unacceptible, especially threating the kid with violence. Some day one of these coaches is going to go to prison for assault and that may finally put an end to this crap.

These schools that let this stuff go unaddressed have got to be opening themselves up to civil suits right? The lack of control shown at major, major universities with the way they handle coach-athlete relationships is sort of insane.

Wussification of America. Everyone is so sensitive now. If you yell at a grown football player you are being a bully? I'm not saying there wasn't anything inappropriate, I don't know, but it seems like people are having more and more trouble dealing with this type of thing. In the real world, you deal with a-holes who say inappropriate things. That's life.
