Mizzou Thinking of bolting

I am too lazy to find links but I am wondering what the chances of Misery and possibly Kansas to the SEC. There are some articles out there (mostly the columbia newspaper) that say Mizzou is entertaining thoughts of the SEC.

If they are going to bolt, they better do it before the new deal gets signed. It's sounds like the penalty for leaving is pretty high.

Mizzou in the SEC would give open up KC and StL television markets for the SEC. Not too far from Tennesee, Vandy, and Kentucky.

Calling Missouri a "Southeastern" school is a bit of a stretch, but they were a slave state.

It's not too bad of a fit.

Don't forget Arkansas. Missouri and Arkansas are more connected symbolically than Missouri and Iowa, even though they bookend the Show ME State. The Arkansas / Missouri rivalry would be serious.

Considering that Mizzou openly begged to join the Big Ten, their wanting to go to the SEC shouldn't be a surprise.

But is the SEC really willing to expand beyond 12? Now that the rest of the 'mega-conference' talk has calmed down, it doesn't seem likely.

See this is what im talking about. Mizzu isnt stupid, they know theyve been kicked around buy the big 12 for years and frankly are tired of it. Why wouldnt you want to get out of a conference that pushes a school with a worse win loss record then you to a more prestegious bowl game.

Agreed. If they want to bolt (and why wouldn't they?), best to do it now before they new agreement kicks in with huge $$$$ penalties for leaving.

Wouldn't surprise me to see them leave if they can find a home.

Same thing happens in the big 10 every year. Bowls can pick the team they want, the conference has nothing to do with it.

It was a 2 win difference wasn't it?.... I don't think that would happen in the Big10... would it?... 2 wins is a big difference.

**edit.. looks like it was only a 1 game differnce... 4-4 vs 3-5...

Given what some of the feelings in the Big12 Lite about Mizzu, instead of giving them a penalty, they may rent the moving van for them.

But the Big10 shares bowl revenue...wonder what type of hit Mizzou took $ with ISU going to the Insight?

Yeah, T. Boone Pickens is the head of the posse, and it looks like they're getting the hangin' tree ready. Better git while the gittin's good, Mizzou.

Who could blame anyone in the B12 for wanting to leave? They should just change the name of the conference to Big Texas and get it over with.

Mizzou is going nowhere. They are in to stay, and departing is going to bear a VERY heavy penalty. There's more "rumors" of ND and Arkansas moving to the Big 12 then of Mizzou and KU leaving...its just not happening. Not even a legitimate rumor.

Mizzou is probably staying but as of right now there are not "heavy penalties" to leave. ND going to the Big 12 has less than a 0% chance of happening. Whoever came up with that rumor should be tarred and feathered

ND is more likely to go to the Big 12 than the Big 10. In the Big 12, they can have their own TV network...further, they have asserted that they won't join a league with more than 12 teams.
