Average minutes per game:

White - 34.5
Uthoff - 31.5
Gesell - 25.8
Clemmons - 24.0
Olaseni - 20.3
Jok - 18.5
Woodbury - 18.3
Oglesby - 15.5
Uhl - 10.0

Clemmons is getting the 4th most minutes, not far behind Gesell, and is getting more minutes than either post player. Sappy is playing well on both ends. Really nice to see him step up in crunch time. White and Uthoff will continue to get over 30 a game each, and both seem up to the challenge.

Uhl is trending down, as it should be in the stretch run.

Interesting avgs, I and others were definitely saying some time back that White and Uthoff needed more minutes along with Jok. this was back before Jok was starting. I thought Gesell needed more minutes to solidify that spot. It just seemed a good idea based on what the players were doing.

Fran has really adjusted the playing time and lineups well.

I think if Fran were to look back at last year, he would reason he played too many people and didn't pare down the minutes for players who weren't truly contributing or playing at a high level. If I remember right, Marble was the only one that was averaging over 30 and the others were grouped in the 16-20 range...and he played 10 guys.

I think this team is much more cohesive defensively as the rotation has really been 7 guys getting the lion's share of minutes. Ogs has just recently (hitting shots now) increased his minutes due to his stroke improving.

Agreed. The only positive defensive option for a 10 man rotation is in playing a full court press for 40 minutes. Trying to wear down the other team's starters with waves of players and constant pressure.

AC is keeping himself in the game with defense and now getting to the rim more often. Quietly doing a lot of things right.

I am not in disagreement with the thoughts expressed in this thread. I would say that I am very happy to see Dom Uhl get legitimate playing time this year. He will have a good career at Iowa and his experience this year, with Whitey, Josh, and Gabe graduating, and with, at this point anyway, no new real "bigs" coming in, Dom will be a major cog in the wheel next year.

In listening to a radio replay of the PSU game, Dolph and Bobby were saying that AC was having a pretty bad night. Did not see the game, but it sounded like he was turning it over a bunch.

The several games prior to that, however, I would agree that AC was playing much better, and clearly Oglesby has, too.

I thought he looked a little slow or sluggish. He wasn't moving his feet like he normally does. Not sure if that's what they were talking about or not.

He struggled at PSU... He had 3 TO's,1 assist and was only 1-5 from the floor.

He certainly has but I think I would prefer to see Jok's minutes go up and his decrease.

The eye test tells me I'm just not certain AC can maintain that level of play. The eye test tells me he's just not that good on offense. As I mentioned earlier in the thread... I think if you go back to some times we've struggled in the year we were getting NO scoring from him or Josh Ogelsby. Makes it pretty difficult when you get 0 to little out of your guards coming off the bench.

Just my opinion.

And these are the hands Iowa is dealt with...at times, our substitutions are flawless, good defense, players scoring, so they become meaningful minutes and contributing of the bench, and other times, they do look lost, sluggish....Is Fran finally making good sub situations that counter the opposition? If so, let's hope it continues....I have noticed that Fran is quicker to pull players that aren't doing the job...

Jok keeps playing out of control and turning the ball over.

He needs to realize he is only a jump shooter at this level.

Looking at the Mich-NW 2OT game from last night. 4 of Michigan's starters played 49, 49, 47, and 47 of the 50 minutes. Yikes!

They can't break a full court press and they will be fatigued. It's Senior Day. And Fran wasn't real pleased with the officiating in the last one. This one could get really ugly.
