Minnesota is a dumpster fire

We were all up in arms about a 4 game skid and a third place finish.....

Minnesota is an absolute mess right now. Bad team, players kicked off the team left and right, suspended, etc.
i know y'all wanted that reg season crown...but how'd how like to be those guys??

Did they run off their past coach? I honestly don't remember. Their last coach I remember is Clem Haskins who was probably like three coaches ago lol. I certainly don't see Iowa running Fran off anytime soon.

Yeah, they sure did. Fired Tubby three years ago about this week. After they had signed him to a 3 year extension that previous summer.

And that was just after they made it to the 3rd round of the NCAAs.

His overall record was 124-81.

There's dumb. Then there's Gopher-dumb.

Whats really sad is Pitino just got renewed by Minnesota and if they fire him his buyout I believe is 7 million. So he's not going anywhere for awhile. Plus they have issues with their administration. Dumpster fire indeed

Pitino had to deal with suspensions. At least, little Richard seems to have morals, unlike his old man.
Pitino also has quite a few 4 and 3-star recruits still in the pipeline.

Remember, many said Minnesota was a dumpster fire in Jerry Kill's first few years, as well.

This is Little Richard's 3rd year, not 1st, big, big difference. Each year has been worse than the year before for Little Richard. This is a Lick deal where you cut bait in year 3. No way, no how should a coach get a 4th year after what he has done there.

Minnesota does have a highly rated recruiting class coming in, it will make or break Patino. But I'll enjoy the dumpster fire. ;)

You also have to remember it is much easier to turn around a basketball program compared to football. Get 2 NBA talent guys and you are on your way. You won't compete in football with just 2 NFL talent guys. You should be somewhat competitive in basketball by year 3 even without NBA talent.

With that said I hope they have their struggles for the next 100 years.

He may get the chance to hire his Daddy to be his assistant... They are in a pretty rough spot. Unless your a blue blood program your going to have down years it's just going to happen. And even the Blue bloods will have down years relative to what they are used to. The one and done rule makes it tough look at KY this yr.. Expecting multiple freshman to be rock stars year in and year out is just a tough thing to do sometimes you'll hit home runs other times.... And I bet KYs group can get really good they just may need to stick around a 2 or 3 yrs.

This sounds an awful lot like comments that were being made on this board around 2010 or so... Despite the program losing 20+ games that year. Players leaving (or suspended in this case) was the excuse, and there was always that next batch of incoming recruits that was sure to get things turned around.

Just seems like that program keeps trending downwards.. Much like we were under Lick.

I don't see that happening either, but there have been plenty of posters here asking for just that during the past month.

Well MN football was borderline dumpster-ish this last fall too with that losing record. Wouldnt call that a turnaround....

I don't think there were any positive comments regarding lickliter. Pretty much everyone hated him pretty quickly.
