Minnesota +3

I don't think Minnesota's offensive line is anything like Wisconsin. Advantage Iowa.

Goofs have played one team with a defensive line and pass rush...Maryland...it didn't go well. Advantage Iowa

Minnesota has a freshman QB...Iowa usually plays well against freshmen QBs. Advantage Iowa.

Maryland ran all over Minnesota averaging over 10 yards a carry. Advantage Iowa.

I'm surprised the line isn't more...but this is Iowa's first road game. If we don't turn it over, I think this is a two or three score game.

It looks like it's moved to Iowa -6 now. Still not sure why it started at -3 but whatever it is I always assume Vegas is right, probably a match-up issue somewhere.

the early betting was probably heavy toward iowa

I think the line tells me that the boys in the desert aren't quite sure yet how good Iowa is. Iowa should be a 9-10 point favorite. But, Father and Son's offense can give any other team a chance.....and perhaps also our special teams unless they get that fixed....hence less than touchdown favorite.

Low single digits + / - is what I'd expect for this one. That's consistent with toss-up games.
The only lopsided spreads should be Penn State (huge L - depantsing) and Illannoy & Nebraska (10+ W's).

I expect similar lines for Indiana, Maryland, Purdue & Northwestern and, out of the 5 (Minny included), expect at least (hopefully, only) 2 losses.

Never understood the betting line. Shouldn't the favored team have the +number? Maybe suggested by Ferentz too make the underdog feelz good about themselves.

Iowa - 17
Minny - 21

Puuuuh-leeeez.

I live here in Minny. The goofs are a joke. They’ve played nobody. Fans here joke they should schedule HS teams instead in the pre-season for better competition. They’ve lost their best player on defense and their top 2 Sr RBs to season ending injuries. They replaced DB Winfield with a true freshman walk-on for the IA game. They now start true freshman @RB. Their QB is a true freshman. He injured his left ankle in the Miami, OH game and had NO mobility in the Maryland game where he was sacked 4x, threw 2 INTs, including a pick 6. 2 of their 3 starting WRs are freshman. They start 3 sophomore 1st year starters on the O-Line. Their defense is nothing to write home about... Maryland torched them for 42. They have no depth anywhere so Iowa WILL wear this defense down with a steady dose of IKM & TY. They have no playmakers who can stick with Fant or Hock. The other DB? Fleck not sure this week if he’ll start the RS Sr or another true freshman cuz the RS SR sucks.

Freshman everywhere. No depth. Hobbled QB.

You get the picture?

Iowa favored by 3 in the opening line.
On paper, this should be an easy win for the Hawks. Minnesota has a lot of young players. However, the Gophers are very physical. Iowa has often played flat coming off a bye week. It will be cool on Saturday. If it's dry, I give Iowa a good chance to win. If it's rainy, anything can happen. Iowa is just not consistent on special teams. It could be a close game.

Where's the video...." F the Hawkeyes" ? Oh wait, it'll be at the game, cue your phone's Hawk fans

Very well done Rembrandt. You do good work.

If Iowa doesn't dominate this game, I think Iowa is looking at losing possibly 3-4 more games this year.

The only team Minnesota has played with any talent was Maryland.

Minnesota isn't as good as Iowa State.
You can argue they might better than Northern Iowa.
But they would probably lose to Northern Illinois.
And for sure they will have no chance against Wisconsin.

This is a game for Iowa to get their offense back on track. Work on the passing game, running game and overall build some stats. No reason this game shouldn't be a beat down.

55-13 advantage Iowa.
