Miller's Power rankings

Couple of thoughts:

--I don't see how OSU isn't listed at #1 if Jon says his rankings are "right now". Beat Iowa @Iowa certainly deserves to have them ranked over the hawks and they also won @Wisconsin just prior. Solid wins. People went crazy and jumped off of the ledge during their losing streak and panicked too early.

--MSU is too high. They just lost at Wisconsin and trailed basically the whole game. Granted they are down several key guys but if you are saying "right now" then that has to be part of it as is their great win @Iowa.

--Iowa probably deserves to be right about #3 or #4 Great win vs. Michigan but equally as bad losing at home to OSU and MSU down their best player (Payne) and another big (Dawson).

I'd rank it more like this based on "right now" but also with a look back at to the season as a whole as well.

1. OSU
2. MSU
3. Iowa
4. Wisconsin
5. Michigan
6. Minnesota
7. Indiana
8. Northwestern
9. Penn State
10. Nebraska
11. Purdue
12. Illinois

Um, I think right now, also include the prior 10 games. Just cause they won 2, doesn't mean that OSU didn't drop like 5 in a row. That would have been like ranking jNW #1 when they won 2 in a row...

Keep in mind that he looks at it as who would win more games out of 10. I think we'd beat OSU more times out of 10...and so does Jon

No, no *big mighty* MSU team is gonna come in here using injuries as an excuse. Last time they came in we were without Marble and we didn't foul them 30 times just to keep up and hope the refs blew some. And that was an NIT team coming off its first season above .500 since '07.

The rest I can't tell if you are being serious.

Not long ago Jon had Northwestern ranked like 5 or 6th. :) These type of things are very subjective and nothing to get worked up over. I seriously wouldn't over think it OP.

Ive read a lot of comments over the past 2 weeks by posters wondering if Iowa was going to make the tournament (which is idiotic) but at the same point in time as soon as there is a big win like on Saturday people swing back the other way thinking this is the best team ever (which is also idiotic).

Another post asked the question as to whether this board is bipolar. Well it might be because one day people want to lock FM up to a 20-year deal and the next they say he can't recruit, can't manage timeouts, etc. Jon does a good job of tempering the naysayers when things are going bad but tends to pump up the home team a bit too much after wins.

It's no big deal but if you are doing things as of right now, there is no team playing better and more determined than OSU. If they beat Michigan tonight that will just confirm it.

OSU was also our worst loss. No question, thinking or pause necessary. When you are the worst on a list that includes Iowa St. and Wisconsin something is very wrong and you are not the top of anything, anytime.

Can you provide evidence of one single poster who had a post about giving Fran an extension and another post about Fran not being able to recruit?

You're right I don't read them Windsor. Like I said to OP all very subjective and wouldn't get to worked up over it. What is real is going to the Big Ten standings page and that tells me what I need know.

I gotta look at the whole body of work, not just what has happened the past couple of games.

1. MSU - King of the mountain, until someone can come along and knock them off their perch. They got lucky at Iowa, that loss still grinds my @ss.

2. Iowa - The highest I have had them all year. I think they proved beyond a shadow of a doubt that they are a better team than Michigan.

3. Michigan - This team will only go as far as Stauskas will take them. The rest of the league is figuring out how to guard Stauskas, and GRIII is not picking up the slack.

4. Ohio State - About time they woke up and started playing up to their abilities.

5. Wisconsin - After losing at home to Northwestern and Ohio State they turn around and beat MSU. Will the read Wisconsin team please stand up?

6. Minnesota - Obviously a much better team with Andre Hollins back in their lineup.

7. Indiana - Much better at home than on the road but they go from losing to Northwestern to beating Michigan on their home court. This team goes how far Yogi Ferrell can take them, stop Yogi you stop Indiana.

8. Nebraska - After starting the conference season with 4 losses they have bounced back to win 4 of their last 6. They are very tough on their home court, on the road not so much.

9. Illinois - Talent is there but Groce does not have this team playing up to their abilities. Force this team to take jump shots.

10. Northwestern - They are coming back down to earth. Unless you play down to their level there is no reason why they should beat you.

11. Purdue - They got a NBA center and that's about it.

12. Penn State - They might not win another game the rest of the season. The remaining home games are Iowa, Ohio State, and Wisconsin. I know they beat Ohio State on the road but the Buckeyes seem pretty good in the revenge game. I might disappear from this site for a couple of days if they beat Iowa this coming Saturday.

Thoughts on your list Kelley...

1 - Yep

2 - Yep

3 & 4 - Decided tonight

5 - Soft schedule will keep them here

6 - Yep

7 - Yep

8 - Yep...should have beat Michigan

9 - NW...beat Illinois in their only meeting this year

10 - IL...See 9

11 - Yep...too bad (for PU) that NBA center only plays every other game

12 - Yep

But what happened? I thought OSU was playing better than anyone? Back under the bridge with you.
