Miller's Best of the Big Ten & Power Poll

Jon,
Do you really think Michigan is the 4th best team right now? I know the numbers have been impressive, but it can't take long for a team to figure out Denard Robinson, or have him get hurt, or exploit that high school defense they have.

Right now they are but polls shift from week to week. DRob is giving eye-popping performances but how long can he last before he gets hurt?

I agree it's been somewhat impressive, but all things relative....the defenses they have played have been nothing short of pathetic. I think they lose at least 4 conference games.

People expected Pat White to get broken as well. While it is a reasonable assumption, judging the team based on that factor is a little questionable. I mean you could say the same thing about any NCAA QB. Really gotta judge the team that is playing, not the one that might not be playing.

Now, that being said, that defensive backfield is horrible.

I don't think there's any question they are the 4th best team (at least) in the B10 right now. Who would you rank ahead of them?

I recall Jerry Dinardo saying after the first two games Iowa has moved up a little in his mind and Wisconsin has slipped a bit.

I agree with his assessment as Iowa looks sharp and Wisconsin looks a little sporadic at times.

I can't recall Iowa looking this sharp, this early in the season. Kirk Ferentz has proven that he gets his teams to improve as the season unfolds, ultimately peaking at the right time. This speaks volumes about what can be achieved this year.

I think I read a stat (and I want to say I read it here) that said Pat White never carried 29 times in one game - like Robinson did against UConn - and that he (White) averaged 16 carries a game over his career. At some point, RichRod is going to get his QB killed.

For better or worse, Illinois will likely beat NIU without too much problem. The Illini D has been playing pretty well. Their O, while shakey, certainly has some potential.

I think it goes like this OSU and Iowa really close at this point. Iowa has really been an all around team so far and hasn't really had to many mistakes to be upset about. Then I'd put Wisky at like a distant third with their terrible showing against San Jose St (remember they are one of the worst teams in FBS) and then even further away would be Michigan just because of Robinson. Their D is horrible and they are a 1-dimensional team. I'd almost put Northwestern instead of Michigan, maybe a T-4th.

Just my thoughts

Pat White never once carried the ball as many times in a game as DRob has in each of the first two games.

Frankly, I don't see how Michigan isn't ranked 2nd in the power poll at this point. They have now beaten 2 ranked teams, both of which were likely superior to Iowa's two opponents.

I like Iowa over Michigan, but right now, Michigan's resume is superior.

Way to be ignorant, neither of the two teams were ranked there bud... And they were over two overated teams. Granted Iowa hasn't played anyone either, but I wouldn't say close games to Uconn and ND are superior to blow outs by Iowa over its two opponents... Get a clue

Oh and by the way the Hawks are averaging 36 points a game vs. the 29 for Michigan and Iowa is only allowing an average of 7 while Michigan is allowing 17 a game... Real dominate dousche (i know its misspelled)
