I completely agree with your assessment and and comparison of Reisner to Clark. I was saying that exact same thing on Saturday. The way he moves after the catch like Dallas is almost scary. Funny you mentioned that.

As for the noise, it was ridiculous. Absolutely deafening. The fans started early and and as you described the fever just elevated from there. You would have thought something exploded when Greenwood picked off that pass. Good stuff. Definitely the kind of thing that makes being an Iowa fan awfully special.
 
Jon, your writeup got my heart absolutely pumping. I so wish I could have been there for the WI game.

I will be Back In Black at the MSU game, boosting the decibel level and fully expecting the crowd to bring the same to this game as they did to the Wisconsin game.

Despite this tough loss, all the same things are on the table this weekend against MSU as they were against Wisconsin. Win out and we get a BigTen championship trophy. PERIOD. Do that - and with slip ups from Wisconsin and MSU - we go to Pasadena!

The stakes are just as high! On Iowa... On Iowa...
 
On the way home I told my 14 yr old we just witnessed one of the best games ever played in Kinnick and the fact we got to watch it together will be a lifetime memory for us. As Jon notes the crowd noise was deafening when Greenwood got the pick and I told him I'd like to think us fans got him that one :)
 
I think the fans deserve a ton of credit. I am incapable of adequately putting into words what the Iowa fans mean on Saturdays
 
The stadium was amazing after the interception. Too bad we didn't bring this one home. Everyone would be talking about how great the Hawks are this year. I think we will be giving them a chance to say this next Saturday!
 
That was an experience I'll never forget. That fourth quarter was amazing (except for the result obviously). You probably had the loudest moment in Kinnick history (Greenwoods pick) and the quietest (when the ref announced the review of the fumble/wisky td, it was like someone put the entire crowd on mute)
 
And I should add that for any recruit that attended that game the result of the game probably doesn't matter. I find it hard to believe they've experienced anything like that before.

I said the same things right after the game Saturday. I haven't missed a game at Kinnick in nearly 10 years and the roar after Greenwood's pick had to be the loudest I have ever heard Kinnick get. Conversely, when the ref got on the mike to announce the ruling, you seriously could have heard a pin drop. It definately ranks up there in the top ten games I've been to at Kinnick despite the outcome, and I have a feeling the next two home games will be just as, if not even more intense.

Had Iowa came back to win that I can't think of a better overall game from start to finish that that one was/could have been. You know what that game reminds me of...Rocky

Both teams(fighters) trading punches giving everything they have and just as Rocky was about to take down Apollo the bell rings. And just like that fight, "there will be no rematch"...for a couple years anyway.
 
I wasn't able to be at the game in person, but I thought to myself on t.v. during the game that the crowd sounded great.. That obviously was no coincidence. Hopefully this loss didn't take the starch out of the crowd and we can bring the same level of intensity next Saturday against MSU. Something tells me, having a Top 5 and undefeated team coming into Kinnick next weekend, the crowd will be fine.

Still a TON to play for.. I like our chances in every game we have left. Not saying we win them all because they are tough games (MSU, OSU, @NW), but I believe we have a good shot to win any of those.

Couldn't have agreed more. That was by far one of the craziest environments I've experienced in Kinnick and the game was incredible. Hated the ending but will definitely never forget that one. Amazing atmosphere.
 
I could hear it on TV how the crowd started up right after the Wisconsin returner was tackled. Then got progressively louder.

Kudos to the fans who were there. You made that place look and sound great! Recruits have to like that despite the loss.

I hope you guys bring it again this weekend. The defense is going to need you. I wish I could be there.
 
I'm 54, I went to my first Iowa game when I was 9. I've never heard it louder either. Jon's description of turning the volume gradually up past 10 was perfect....it started with crazy loud, and then the fans just fed off each other as the decibel level increased....it got so loud it almost felt like the air pressure around you was increasing. I'd like to think the fans can pick up where they left off for the Michigan State game. Yes, I'm ****** off, frustrated, and slightly embarrassed by our poor football IQ on Saturday, but our players still gave it their all against Wisconsin. Let's do our best to show the players we're still behind them 100% and I think we'll be proud of the result against the Spartans.
 
One thing I forgot to add...right after the the second play of Wisconsin's final drive, which forced a third and long (just before the fake punt), I looked at the bowl reps and said 'Get ready.' A second after I said that, the 'Hells Bells' gongs began to toll...and the crowd ripped off the volume knob. They were just grinning ear to ear. I will never forget that scene.
 
jon, couldn't agree with you more about how you handle a loss shows more of your character than how you handle a win. a wise older friend told me that your true character shows when you come under criticism. we'll see how they respond, but i think they've got the mental makeup to get it done against MSU.
