Miller: Dennis Dodd Jumps the Shark

Not true. All year people here have been complaining about sports talk guys in Des Moines being sensationalistic and damaging. These are not guys with a national platform, these are guys in small market nowhere lobbing fireballs and getting the peanut gallery worked up.

Those guys haven't gone anywhere, and the peanut gallery won't stop listening to them. In fact, plenty of guys in sports have turned trolling into a long lasting career in the national media; Jay Mariotti, Skip Bayliss, Colin Cowherd, etc...

Don't forget Jim Rome

Jon - that DODD article was great. Everything up until the BOLD print was fantastic.

After the bold print you seemed to go off the rails a bit because of your passion, I agree with you, but showing more restraint in your closing argument would have strengthened your arguments. As it is the last few paragraphs come off as a bit of a rant.

Great post, just make sure to hold that thoroughbred back a bit when he has a 20 length lead.

Today's sensationalism journalism is a real mockery and its indicative of the 24-hour news cycle problem where people value entertainment over information.

I like the reference to Watergate as a comparable situation. I'm sorry, where did Deep Throat break any federal laws to give Bob Woodward information?

That, and how does exposing a conspiracy to defraud US citizens really compare to KF keeping health information private. Really glad Jon called him out...this is a horrible article. Also glad a lot of non-hawkeye fans called Dodd out in the comments, too.

A "conspiracy to defraud US Citizens". Wow, pretty cranked up over something that happened 40 years ago, particularly considering that it's child's play compared to some of the stuff that's gone on since.

It's a sugar high, or crying wolf. Sure, you can make a splash in the short run. But over the long haul, if you are all sizzle and no steak, it will not last.

Now, that goes for most folks that aren't already on a platform like Dodd has. He won't be going anywhere.

As far as Dodd is concerned, the Peter Principle is in full effect.

I think Dodd is still embarassed about when he called out KF for not being at a PC at penn st., when KF was actually at his Fathers funeral.

Dodd is a hack. Don't read his crap, don't reply to his crap. and don't comment on his crap.

Whoa, I didn't know about this. I might not be able to help myself. I might just have to mention that to him, regarding his desire to get information. People should break federal law to get him his info, or skip their father's funeral to get it to him. What a d*uche.

My question has been (knowing about how 'professional' all these 'journalists' are), did any of these university employees receive any money for the information they accessed? Of course would be almost impossible to prove even if it happened, but interesting to think about.
