Miller— a little off

Comparing this team to 2015, much less 2002, was as absurd post PSU as pre PSU. (Looking good against teams like MN, IN, and/or MD? Whoopie.)

The theory that Iowa QBs don’t regress—wrong to begin with before this season—also isn’t aging well. (See parenthetical above).

The “BF will be/is a good offensive coordinator” also not looking too accurate. (See parenthetical above).

While I agree, Stanelys hype really was unwarranted. He had one amazing game last year but other than that was game manager or worst.

He clearly has potential but theres weaknesses in his decision-making that havnt been addressed and only gotten worst.

What hurt this team today was being sloppy. We had an unusual amount of penalties the first few games. It bit us in the ass against Wiscy and it bit us in the ass today. Playcalling wasn't good but Stanley being off didn't help any. Ultimately we still had a shot. As bad as he was today, second pick at the GL wasn't on 4. Nobody was ready for the snap (and honestly it should have been illegal procedure but whatever) but the play was there if Fant blocks the OLB like hes supposed to.

Stanley REGRESSED before my eyes today. I’ve never seen a QB at this level choke like that. Also Stanley doesn’t deserve to be calling and or changing any plays at the line. Pathetic performance!!! This team couldn’t hold the jock of the 2002..
The most important person involved with the 2002 offense: Joe Philbin. Iowa will probably never see an OL like the 2002 team had. Joe was one hell of an OL coach.

Stanley is trash as a B1G qb. Plain and simple. If anyone was on the fence, you can’t be anymore.

This was PSU/Iowa 2017 part deux. PSU brought pressure and the OLine was getting pushed back into Stanley's face. He played awful but so did our OL and blitz pickup. BF called an awful game. Running the ball into 9 man fronts...again. The whole team regressed today. Even special teams gave up a 70 yard return when we needed to contain them.

The big difference between 2017 and 2018 is the BF apologists lose the “he’ll get better with experience” argument

BF did call the last 2 games better than he ever has. He regressed today. Partly due to Stanley playing like ass. He should have benched him for the 2nd half. Maybe not for the entire season but that was a wretched 1st half of QB play.

Correct.. I just posted a thread speaking about benching. You can send your starting RB a message that ball security is important and bench him the rest of the game? But you can’t send a QB a message on Game Management?? What happened today with Stanley was a complete mental collapse and he should of been sat for a series or 2.

Even when Stanley is decent, his passes are not accurate. Rarely can the receiver catch the ball in stride and run. Outside of OSU last year, which was a fluke. Who has Stanley beat? A bunch of crap teams. No meaningful wins again this year. He just doesn't have it.

He hurt his ankle and couldn't go. Check facts, then state opinions.

KF has benched starting RB for fumbling that isn’t news Huck that’s Fact!!

Today, Kelly-Martin re-injured his ankle and could not go. Fact. Yes, he has probably benched running backs for fumbling. Not bad theory. Ball security. QB is a completely different animal. They make hundreds of decisions during a game. RB's make a few.

Hypothetical, but how bad does an Iowa qb have to be performing to get benched by Kirk mid game? He was costing us big time today.

Did you see Petersen bench his starter tonight leading 7-6 in the 3rd quarter? It ended up costing them as replacement threw a pick six but dang can't you appreciate the courage to do that?

Kirk doesn't have it.

I have been scratching my head this year re IKM. He has missed two games due to that ankle this year but returned as the starter for those following games. Correct?

I thought he ran soft today. If his ankle isn't 100 % then he shouldn't be running the first few series. We have others who are capable.

He fumbled and was benched. Pretty simple.

Whether or not he was benched doesn't change the fact that Sargent was easily the most effective today, so I disagree IKM should have taken any of his carries.

As for benching QB's vs RB's, somebody else already said it, but RB's do not get the playcall to everyone, set the protection, audible if needed, keep an eye on the D&D/clock/whatever, AND handle the ball every single snap. While sitting Stanley for a series or two to let him calm down may have been a good idea, simply handing the reigns over to a cold Mansell and expecting him to revitalize everything is dumb.

Not to mention that Stanley's shitty play was compounded with poor pass protection, a few drops, and PSU loading the box/coming at them with varied and exotic blitzes.
