I loved hearing from the BTN crew that they were very impressed with Daniels' motor and strength. He has been getting a lot of buzz out of camp, and that is great to hear. He could be a huge contributor this season both rotating in on the regular defense and on goal line sets. It'll be great to have him back next season to lessen the blow on the d-line after losing Clayborn, Ballard and Klug.

I think with Binns out the first game, they move Ballard outside and we get a look at what that defensive line looks like. I could also see Daniels outside also. He's got great quickness. Against a running team, Daniels would be great on the edge.

I agree, Clayborn will be a huge loss next year, but with Daniels it will be like having 2 starters return instead of 1 so the drop off shouldn't be quite as bad.

There were times last year when Daniels played much better than Klug when giving him a breather.

Slowly start backing away...don't be dissin' on Klug, Man!

Truthfully, I am a fan of Klug because he was very underrated and grew up near my home town.
That being said, there were times when Klug looked better than King in a limited number of plays as a backup. Fresh legs make a difference, plus the OL has not had much of a chance to adjust to level of play and tendencies when a back up comes into the game.

Absolutely correct. When a guy gets to come in for the starter ... it's his job to try to provide a spark. When interviewed several times back in '08, Klug said that very thing. Just remember that as a back-up seeing around a little over a half of action, Klug earned Big 10 DPOTW honors.

Similarly, we shouldn't be shocked that Daniels has and will come in ... and look darn good! He should! We shouldn't expect less of him.

Heck, back in '08, Daniels came in for spell King on occasion (IIRC) and looked pretty darn good too.

Well at least we will know that the D-line will be decent next year. I really wish we would have slapped the RS on Ballard though.

Labron Daniel is another option outside might be good to get a sense if he could man the DE spot. Daniel, Daniels, Davis, and Binns might be a heck of a line next year. In fact it might have more guys with automatic next level athleticism and size than even this year's line.
