Mid 2001-12 a realistic date by which to expect improvement

Due to player transfer and injury setbacks, which have resulted in this year having the appearance of year 1 of a rebuilding process, I don't think it is unreasonable to say that we probably won't see things really turning around, i.e., progress, until about this time 2011. Therefore, I think we, Iowa fans, need to swallow our pride for a little while and be patient. I believe we may see a few more wins next year than this, but I don't believe we will be above .500 and out of the Big Ten basement even next year, probably not until 2012. I also believe it won't be until 2013 that we may actually contend in the Big Ten. We're simply not a school where turnarounds can happen quickly with the addition of a star player or two, so unfortunately, several more years is not unreasonable.

Now, should more defections occur (aside from perhaps Brommer, which I think many would understand and sympathize with), the above statement re: giving the process time would deserve reconsideration.

Actually I expect us to be pretty good next year. We have nearly everyone back plus the addition of some good players.
