Michigan this week

Michigan is going to help us out twice this week one way or the other. They play Ohio State and Wisconsin, the 2 teams that are 1 game behind us in the standings.

If they win both we will have a 2 game lead on 3rd. If they lose both we will be tied for 2nd. I'm hoping for the later. Should be a fun week.

I'm definitely rooting for Michigan to lose this week. We've got a chance to distance ourselves from Wisconsin down the line anyway, and Ohio State still has to see Minnesota and MSU at home, and Indiana on the road. They'll drop at least one of those three, IMO.

If Iowa could win the Big 10 great, but I really want them to get a bye in the BTT

So are you hoping Michigan wins both? If they do and we beat Penn State, we would have a 2 game lead on 3rd place with 6 games to go. It would eliminate any chance to win the conference but we would be in a great position for 3rd. Kinda a no lose situation.

This is obviously assuming we keep winning, but if Michigan loses both games that will put us in a great situation for the Michigan MSU game. If Michigan wins it will give us a chance to beat MSU for a 3 way tie. If MSU wins it gives us a 1 game lead on 2nd place. Definitely rooting against Michigan!

Both Michigan losses this week will keep OSU & Wisconsin close to us and that's what Iowa will use to keep their nose to the grind stone....This is going to be a crazy rest of the season for us, OSU & Wisconsin...We just need to take of our opponents one game at a time...

Here is another positive of Michigan losing 2. Ohio State or Wisconsin could finish strong and get the 2 or 3 (Iowa being the other) seed in the BTT and bump Michigan to the 4 seed. I would love to see 1 of the Michigan schools lose in the BTT semis and have Iowa playing Ohio State or Wisconsin.

There are all kinds of angles at this point. Things should be much clearer by next Wednesday...but with this B1G season it probably won't be.

Side Note - I will be stunned if Wisconsin is able to win at Michigan...stunned!

I really don't know anymore if Michigan is better than OSU. They had a stretch where Stauskas shot lights out, but other than that they've been pretty average.

On the flip side, OSU had a stretch where Craft played terrible. Other than that they have been pretty good.

I do know that I want Iowa to finish top 4 in the B1G to get the BTT first round bye. So given schedules maybe beat Wisc and lose to OSU? or does that make sense? I'll just watch it play out.

Side note: I made 3 bets last April with 3 different friends. Two of them included me getting odds for Iowa finishing Top 4 in the B1G, and the other was Iowa finishing higher than Illinois. The latter is locked up, now I just need top 4.

Iowa ran MICH out of gym up 26pts.
Iowa goes 1-1 vs tOSU in 2 pretty damn close games.
Iowa up big before Bad-Fran showed up and loses tight game at Wisky.

Michigan is the weak sister here folks...
Wisky and tOSU have low floors too, but defense w tOSU is so consistent, I give them best odds to finish highest if the high also rans....

If they are going to go 1-1 I would prefer them to beat OSU and lose to Wisconsin since we still play Wisconsin and have a chance to hand them another loss.

The fact we play Wisc makes it tough. I went with Mich beating Wisc because other than us, Wisc has a weak schedule.

If you have to make it 1-1 and pick Wisc to beat Mich. We could easily be Wisc only other loss the rest of the year. Here are Wisc and OSUs remaining schedules. Remember you are giving Wisc a win @Mich.

Wisc - Minn, @Mich, @Iowa, Indiana, @PSU, Purdue, @Neb

tOSU - Mich, @Illinois, NW, Minn, @PSU, @Indiana, MSU

Point taken. Hopefully Wisconsin blows it against Minnesota and makes things easier.

I think Stauskas will play better than he did against Iowa. I think Morgan will play better...Ohio State front court nothing like Iowa's. I think Robinson will play better...don't think he can possibly play worse. Albrecht could play better. LeVert and Irvin could play worse. Also, I don't care how good of defense Ohio State plays tomorrow night it can't be tougher than the defense we played Saturday. The Hawks were locked in on the defensive end.

I don't think Craft will score like he did against us. I think he will continue to be the facilitator. Ross is a reliable scorer. Smith has been playing much better the last few games. If he can score Ohio State is a far better team.

I certainly won't be surprised if Ohio State wins but Tuesdays on ESPN have been surprising of late. I like Michigan in this one.

Do we want MN beating WI? Would drop WI down a peg but would bring MN back into play somewhat. A loss to WI would pretty much flush MN from the top 5.

Need mich to lose... Don't look in the rearview at teams behind us... Keep winning and take care of our biz and we don't have to worry about those teams.

^^This^^......keep the incentive whilst looking down in the standings, and, keep the incentive whilst looking up in the standings.

Philosophically, if 2 teams are dead even, and team A is elite defensively, but poor offensively, and team B is elite offensively, but poor defensively, who do you like?

How does this change your position if Team A is playing at home?

I will take the defensive minded home team vs the offensive minded road team, every time.
