Michigan State oh boy

I don't think that will sell at MSU but, let's remember Dr. Nassar was hired by Michigan State. The Spartans didn't see a problem with its female athletes getting gyno exams for sprained ankles.

Mel Tucker fired as Michigan State’s coach, sources told @ActionNetworkHQ. Secondary coach Harlon Barnett will be MSU’s interim coach w/former coach Mark Dantonio expected to assist in an undefined role. MSU investigating allegations Tucker sexually harassed activist/rape survivor Brenda Tracy, USA Today reported. School has called a 5 p.m. news conference

I'm not typically a conspiracy kind of guy, but is it coincidence that two BTen coaches -- Fitzgerald and Tucker -- have abuse allegations suddenly appear out of nowhere when it's obvious the higher-ups in their administrations want to get rid of them for poor on-field performance, without paying their hefty buy-outs?
This sounds like it's quickly moving to a 'he said/she said' situation about whether it was consensual or not. If that's the case, MSU will probably buy him out at a reduced rate.

Of course, nothing is shocking anymore.

If my 2 options are...

Administration comes up with complicated schemes to create a scandal out of thin air to get a coach removed.

or...

Person with a lot of power and ego does something shitty.

I am going to put my money on Door #2.

Good way for Michigan State to get out of contract of an overpaid coach. Idiot thought it’d be a good idea to do that with a female advocate brought in to educate the team on sexual assault prevention… can’t make this up.
Ya wonder if it was a sting operation

I'm thinking the two situations are entirely different. In Fitzgerald's case the school put itself in a precarious position. NW fired Fitzgerald, and only Fitzgerald, when dozens of conspirators had to exist. Every player that did it, every player than knows about it and of course all the coaching levels between the tortured and Fitzgerald. There doesn't seem to be any question that much misconduct occurred. Of course, NW painted itself into a corner by only firing Fitzgerald and disciplining no one else.

Tucker's case seems very factual. Very specific and small details can make an enormous difference. What Tucker gets will turn on very specific details. If MSU really has the goods he should get fired and MSU should fight any litigation over a buyout. If he can prove he's not guilty, MSU has libeled the hell out of Tucker and he should hit them hard.

Tucker has already admitted he masturbated while on a phone call with a women famous for her rape survival story.

His only defense is that that they had consensual phone sex, which if even it is true, still represents extremely poor judgement. Tucker is gone as the MSU head football coach no matter what. MSU just has to make sure the legal process is followed correctly before he is officially fired.

Agreed. Northwestern's largest benefactors liked Fitz.

This is spot on.

What he is already admitted to --- a married man with two kids having phone sex and waxing his weanie consensually with a much younger woman, who is a football player gang rape survivor, that he brought on campus through his authority as the highest paid employee on campus --- is enough to trigger his for clause termination. This hearing is just a formality.

Now, he will sue and claim it was consensual and that there were no grounds for his termination. They will settle out of court for 8 figures. His soon to be ex wife will get half. He will go on the scrape heap with so many other men of power who think they can get away with doing anything because they have power. #throwyourcareeraway

BTW, while coaches like this used to be able to sneak back into coaching as a coordinator somewhere, I saw a story where Art Briles was just on the field with his son (OC) after the Oklahoma game and the AD had to release a statement saying he was pissed and it won't happen again. He hasn't gotten another job since Baylor bounced him. Crimes against women have become a third rail in football. Should be.
