Michael Edwards 2015 John Glenn

Correct, only the early signing period is over, and Iowa needs a post player so on the surface this makes sense. Fran must see something that others don't, or he is bursting onto the scene quickly because there is not much recruiting news/profiles on him.

Yeah, it was reported he is a "late bloomer." I wish there was a way to get this kid and Okarawizie but I don't think there is outside of someone transferring.

He's bouncy. Kind of looks a little like Aaron White to me. He certainly looks like a guy that can finish in transition and play pick-n-roll basketball in the half court. Doesn't look like a low post scorer or true rim protector/post defender, which is also something we need.

Looks more athletic and aggressive than White. Of course it's his highlights so would need to see in a regular game while running an actual offense.

Comes w/a little fire in his belly doesn't he? Nice little nudge at the end....Seems pretty aggressive, maybe a little off-balance at times, but that correctable....Could be a nice get....

Interesting. Fran’s definitely going after the tough, chip on the shoulder guys in the 2015 class. Looks like Meatchicken has been courting Edwards for a little while.

If you watch the film he looks like a guy with a high motor, athletic, high coordination, and good size. I can see why Fran offered him.

Reminds me of Aaron also, but with a outside shot. Love the way he attacks the rim.....

He would be a good one, I believe. Certainly would fit the system.....

Reported on Rob Howe's site that this kid has an Iowa offer. I think he would be a great get. He's a 2015 so he could still sign now (unless the signing period has ended) or in May. I think this kid would fit in. I think we have 1 more scholly for 2015, right?

Thanks, Arvada, would love to have him. Too bad we didnt offer earlier. If our season continues to improve, he might be ours. We must beat ISU Friday.....

I keep going back and forth on what we need more to fill the last spot in this class, PG or C? I think it's a Center because they take longer to develop, and Dickerson is just a sophomore. Plus, I think one of the guys in the 2015 class can handle the point, but don't think any are good enough to be true PG's. Thoughts?

I'd say center is more important. There will be 3 PGs on the roster next year, just 1 center. I really don't want to see this team have to rely on a true freshman center to start in the 2016-2017 season, especially when considering the tendency for bigs to take longer to develop.

I'd really rather have Fran wait on this scholly to see what transfers become available. Too many good players move these days, and you need an open chair at the table for them to land at in the spring. I think 1 open scholly is a good thing.

Considering the staff wanted 2 big men, I am assuming they will do everything they can to get 1 in this years class. That being said, if the talent isn't there (most of Iowa's post targets have committed elsewhere) I would not be surprised if Fran signed a PG and went the Juco route for a big man next season.

I'd be ok with this. I would also be ok with either offer that Fran has out. I have stopped worrying about ratings with Fran. He has shown that he can find talent, so if a guy is a three star and he offers him, that is good enough for me. So if he thinks Michael can fill a need that he sees on his teams then go for it.

Michael Edwards is listed as a 6'9"/225lb center.

I like the comparisons to White as far as quickness. But Edwards is wider in the shoulders and (from the listing and the clip) seems close to as heavy as Aaron is now. I like him as a PF/C in college. He could be a good get for Iowa as he's quick, can run the floor, and seems versatile.
