Mich St players supposedly assault woman

No sympathy, sorry.

What did she expect? Taking your clothes off in front of a bunch of college aged guys...bad judgment?

Ummm bad judgement yes but as PP found out when she says NO it means NO and well your at your own risk following that.

Straight out of Love and Basketball. Minus the whole double team thing, but then again Izzo is known for teaching defense.

Hopefully this young lady has the strength to prosecute her attackers. I am sure her father would like to take things into his own hands, I know I would...

No one exactly went down (other than her maybe--bad joke) after the clothes came off except them. Obviously there were three naked people and two guys standing at attention. What did she expect would happen, in that kind of very erotic situation?

"Oh lets take off all our clothes and fool around in the process and then when everyone is very excited we will just put our clothes on and act like nothing happened and I will just go home. Oh, maybe we will kiss and rub around a little while we take our clothes off but after that, no more, I'm off limits."

And then they take it to the next level and perhaps she let them or one of them and then things get out of control and she gets a little scared? Suddenly it is not fun and games anymore but it is for the guys who are looking at it entirely different than she is? Now it is rape and she is angry because they aren't being prosecuted? Someone should have a long talk with that young lady about what is proper and what isn't; what is putting yourself in a bad situation because she obviously is not aware...

The reason it isn't going to court...because no jury in the state would convict those guys. Perhaps next time she needs to think before she starts playing strip bb...

I suspect the lady BB player no longer gets extremely drunk and then visits a guys apartment at early hours in the morning, climbs into bed with him, wakes him up, and wants sex with him anymore either...if she does, she didn't learn much...

It is reportedly two frosh bb players...highly rated frosh bb players. Lets see what Izzo does here, with facts in hand. From the description, there is more evidence of wrongdoing here than in the PP case, as one player corroborates her story. The Iowa case was he said/she said with no witnesses.

I hope Izzo does the right thing if the truth is as she says....even if no prosecution is pursued. If he does not, he risks the program,as we have seen at Iowa. Short term gain is not worth long term damage if the facts support her story.

I find it interesting and odd that no charges have been filed. The victim gave her side of what happened with one of the "assaulters" corroborating what she said and the police recommending said charges be filed.

In a statement dated Sept. 14 and released on Friday, Dunnings says charging a criminal sexual conduct case “requires the element of force and/or coercion.” He said numerous prosecutors of both genders reviewed the case report and “none could find any of these necessary elements.” The police report and statements by the victim suggest otherwise.

Now, had both players had the same story that conflicted with the victims I might understand the prosecutor coming to the conclusion he did. Along the same lines I would imagine a rape kit analysis would have been performed which in part would have lead to the police recommending charges be filed. I can't imagine there being too much of a gray area here, but obviously there is.

While I certainly can't defend the stupidity of this girl the fact still remains in the eyes of the law and society NO means NO and you can put yourself in a major hurt trying to act out some porno show just because the opportunity presnts itself.
This case will go to court if they can find a way. Its too high profile for the activists to let slide.

While I am in no way condoning the actions of the player, I just can't understand the actions of the women. It is very much like the Mike Tyson of Kobe Bryant case. A women goes out of her way to put herself in a close personal situation with a person who has never been told no in their lives, and is then surprised when they don't stop when told no. What did she think would happen?

This kind of thing would never happen in Iowa City.

If she played a game of strip basketball with our team she would have won and stay clothed. ;)

Sioux - you are a little off base on your comments - I currenly have 2 daughters in college - No girl / woman should ever have to assume "what did she think was going to happen" - No does mean No - If any guy had any brains in his head - once she says no - he is putting himself at serious risk of being in a situation he doesnt want to be. I have strongly stressed to my girls that they should never put themselves in those situations as some guys just simply cant control themselves. That being said - I cannot understand why these gents may end up getting off with no repercussions here.

I don't think you really understood what I posted. I said the actions of the players where wrong. I didn't say the girl deserved what she got. I said I didn't understand what the woman thought would happen after she went out of her way to find these players and gain access to their room. I said I also didn't understand the actions of a couple of other women who made similar choices with similar results. Got it now?

If this goes to court the only person the only thing that will happen is that this woman's name will be splashed all over. She will be made the fool simply because of what she did to put herself into that situation. No court is going to send these guys to jail for rape and maybe not even for sexual abuse.

She strips down with the two of them in a game of strip bb and they run around naked. Think about how the defense will portray that scene to the jury. Defense lawyer to jury, "Please close your eyes and picture this. The three of them play an erotic game of strip BB, slowly taking off a piece of clothing each time one of them misses a shot, all the while kissing and touching each other, and on and on..."

The jury will be getting it on before the defense lawyer is done describing the scene...

I think I understood exactly what you were talking about - my response was based solely on your last statement "A women goes out of her way to put herself in a close personal situation with a person who has never been told no in their lives, and is then surprised when they don't stop when told no. What did she think would happen? "

From my perspective - (in which I agree with you) that's a mentality that some of these guys that havent ever been told no do have / I am not sure that you could get a lot of women to look at it that way - maybe some of the females on this board could clear that up. I know you stated that you did not agree with what the guys did - but just the mere fact that she put herself in an awkward situation with these guys doesnt give them the right to do what they did (if all facts are true).

Not trying to pick a fight with you dude - so do you go it?
