Micah Hyde - No. 78 in Rivals Top 100 Players Countdown

Honestly, I thought he would be higher. And they didn't mention that he tends to return his INT's for touchdowns. Do we get any other players on this list?

not bad for the 2nd best cb on the team...not trying to say micah isnt good. i think lowery is just phenomenal and will really impress people with his ability as a physical cover guy. hyde is a cover guy but he really isnt physical.

I agree. BJ, is going to be an awesome cb for us, he is a great player.

BJ is still inexperienced. He is going to make mistakes like Hyde and Prater did early on but he certainly has the tools to be the next great Iowa corner. I expect to see some PI calls early on in the season plus the occasional blown coverage.

Hyde is a smart corner but I thought his tackling seemed to be less sure last year. Could have just been the lack of Sash, I always liked the way they played together. Wouldn't it be awesome to see either of the corners and Nico Law develop some kind of on field synergy?

I also like Lowery's speed off of the corner in a blitz. The guy is lightning quick. Maybe a blocked kick (or two) too.

I disagree completely but I have no doubt he is going to be very solid this season.

i believe that if lowery doesnt get hurt last yr that hyde would have stayed at safety. i do not think hyde would have made the play against michigan that lowery did. hyde is a great cb but lowery has the tools to be better than speivey.

This pretty much sums up my position as well. Lowery has better short area quickness and recovery speed than Hyde or Spievey. I see Hyde and Spievey as similar players. I think Lowery ends up a more complete version of Prater. He has the tools to play at a very high level.

I'll take Hyde's experience and big play ability over somebody unproven and currently another forum page wonder boy. I want both of them to be great but to say someone who has done very little on the field is better than our biggest defensive playmaker is silly if you ask me.

P.S. Lowery got away with pass interference on that last play against Michigan and I'm one of the biggest Hawkeye homer's alive.

the coaching staff must have thought he was pretty good when they moved hyde to safety last yr. when they did that it was because they felt it made the defense better. that was before lowery's injury. after he got injured they stuck with it but saw it wasnt working with the #4 cb in the #2 cb spot. hyde is a big play guy and he is a great cb...all i said was lowery has better skills and could be better (i personally think he will be). i was using this a sign that our cbs are pretty good when hyde is ranked here and the guy on the other side of the field could possibly be better. i dont think i am the only one with this belief/opinion. hyde will be drafted but i think lowery will be the new benchmark for cbs at iowa (take that mantle from spievey).

p.s. the play against michigan...i have seen less get called and more get no call. it is a judgement call by the referee...he didnt call it. so i would say that is not interference. it is kind of like the play in the nba finals with durant and lebron...cant whine about it you make a play...lowery made a play (with 1 hand btw).

Lowery got away with pass interference because he is good! Same reason why Revis can get away with interference is because he is good. The better you are, the more the calls tend to fall in your favor. But, I agree, saying that Lowery is better than a proven playmaker is a little far fetched. But, BJ has shown great consistency and ability in the few games he has played.

Who would of thunk we could become D-back U? Sanders, Considine, Sash, Fletcher, Godfrey, Paschal, Spievey, Bernstein (hopefully) and projecting Hyde & Lowry as potential pros...with a lot of impressive talent in the wings and just signed.

(OK, we're no LSU, but still)

If we could get this kind of result out of the WR position we'd be killin' it.
