Mel Kiper Has Riley Reiff #8 on his Big Board

If Riley gets this kind of feedback across the board in early January, would be hard to expect him to return next year.

I think he comes back. Just from his interviews, he doesn't seem like a guy that in enamored with the NFL. He seems like he could wait.

I haven't been too impressed with his play this year. Not a ledge jumper, just have seen him get beat on a couple plays. This could be a result of the more shotgun two minute approach.

Im sure you know more about draft prospects than mel kiper

In all fairness, if Kiper was any good he would work for an NFL team. Not to mention he has no idea who will be drafting #8. Will a team with a solid OL pick an LT if they need a QB or something? No. I'm not saying he's overrated like the guy you're quoting said, or that that poster is better at evaluating talent, just saying that being on ESPN doesn't automatically make you a great talent scout. Not to mention it's less than halfway through the NFL season.

Mel Kiper earns at a minimum mid 6 figures because of his NFL scouting work. So someone feels he knows a few things

O line hasn't been that bad. If you haven't noticed, when McCall and Canzeri were in some good things happened. I don't think that's coincidence. Coker ceretainly doesn't help out; he's too slow to hit the hole when it's there (and it often is there).

I bet his hair alone makes 6 figures.

The guy isn't always right, nobody is, but he does more research about these prospects than anyone else.

he will be back if he doesn't like who may draft him, and the team that need a offensive lineman will be the 1st to take him, NFL teams are now drafitng to fill needs, if they can they trade to get someone to fill their need that will fall a few spots, they can use a higher draft choice to get another pick lower in the 1st round and a 2nd pick further down the line or maybe a good pick the following year

I wonder if part of Reiff's high ranking is that he is a "Ferentz guy," i.e., extremely prepared coming out of college. It was interesting to hear how the NFL views Ferentz coaches players during the NFL draft coverage, for example.

This is why if I was a talented left tackle who wanted to go first round in the NFL I'd definitely think long and hard about Iowa.

I never said Reiff or the O-line were not talented.

They, however, are not dominant. These guys were expected to have the best line in the conference. Reiff is good, but I have not seen enough out of him this season to warrant a top ten draft pick.

I will take the hair's draft porjection over yours. Kiper isn't the only one projecting him top 10

I love the great player development of the Ferentz era. Especially on the lines, but ugh, want to see a junior eligible stay...That might put us from a good OL(read HawkeyeGamefilm's analysis of Reiff...he's been consistently good)to a very good/dominating OL. Wonder if having Bulaga(and Spievey) back last year might have made a difference in those close games down the stretch. It's a "so it goes" thing, doubt it happens but like to see Reiff decide to stay. I assume if he goes this year you'll have Schreff be his most likely replacement, but with McMillian, and two heralded redshirt freshmen guards(Blythe and Walsh)maybe you move a budding star guard to OT other than just Schreff. Not concerned that the OL won't be good next year but HOW good is the issue with a defense that expect probably won't be comparable to what we've had the last three years we're going to need very strong offensive production if we want to compete for a conference championship. Hoping we see some more red. freshman/sophomores step up on both sides of the LOS this year.

it doesn't work that way in the NFL. teams w needs trade up down etc. in now way shape or form will rileys draft decision be made by who drafts where.
