Md's Stone suspended for MN game

It's for the whole game, but still not enough. I guess nothing is going to happen to the refs involved?

Minnesota is going to beat someone. If Carter gets in foul trouble maybe the goofs have a chance

1 game is a joke, especially when the next opponent is Minnesota.

He absolutely should have been tossed for the 2nd half of the WI game and a minimum additional game by the NCAA or BIG.

If it was football, he would have been ejected and the WI player would had a helmet. Maryland is the the east coast version of Michigan State.

I was thinking about calling Minny for the upset. This will probably improve Mary's focus so they'll probably win. Still, I wouldn't be surprised at all if ....

The Gophers have a chance. Except for poor shooting, I thought they looked pretty darn good. They will be much improved next year.

After the game and talking with other bball fans, I expected at the very least a 1 game suspension. I was happy to see that MD did it themselves .. .. until I found out that MN was the next opponent. MD should win the game without Stone, so it really means nothing.

I'm not sure what the refs were thinking by not tossing him. It was a bush league move and definitely a Flagrant 2. I hope the B1G adds another game, but I doubt it will happen.

GO HAWKS!!!

Allegedly, because he used an "open hand" vs. a "closed fist". Like either one made the difference in what COULD have been a broken nose or worse?

Unbelievable.

The problem is the rule doesn't mention anything about "open" v "closed" fist. It talks about a Flagrant 2 foul being "excessive, severe, and/or extreme (live or dead ball)". In this case, it was all of the above. Plus I'd argue that the floor is akin to a closed fist.

Oh well .. .. It's probably a closed issue.

GO HAWKS!!!

Something tells me WI will handle this. Stone will see them again over the next couple years. I have a hunch he will take some hard fouls trying to score inside.

Maybe they should let the victim held determine the penalty. Big Ten won't do anything but a one game against Minn. is ridicules.

If that's word for word how the rule reads, it doesn't address an open or closed elbow then, either...which is the body part more commonly looked at in these "flagrant" issues, isn't it? It should be safe to assume "open" or "closed" is not needed, in my opinion.

He might see them again in the B1G tournament but after that, probably not. Talented 6'11 players don't stick around too long.

That's pretty bush league. That was as intentional as it gets. How can whatever ISUs big guy got suspended for multiple games be worse than that? That's the sort of stuff that starts fights and lingers when it's not taken care of in the moment and especially after the fact like this. Maybe the NCAA will pile on more of a punishment. We'll see...

I don't know if it's w4w from the rule book. I reviewed that portion of the game and took it w4w from the BTN broadcast.
