McNutt....

Just wondering if anyone remembers McNutt's scouting report coming out of high school. I still have problems believing he is so good only being a wideout for 3 years.

Interesting, on the side of that Rivals profile it shows similar players and the top one is Phillip Bates, who went to ISU but transferred when Arnaud beat him out because he didn't want to play WR.

He's just got super-glue meat hook hands. It's like that ball is a nerf ball to him. His YAC is very very good this year as well, it's almost like he is going right by his first defender. Scary good. when in doubt, throw it high, and throw it to Nutter.

He might also be the best high school basketball player brought to our campus during the Lickliter Era.

i went to my first game of the early season today and damn you dont realize how big that boy is until you see him running around on the field he will be playing on sundays next year!

I'm not sure about his scouting report, but I was looking at our past recruiting classes, and saw that Mcnutt was a 3* recruit as a QB. I think it's fair to say moving him to WR was a good choice. Marvin is better than a 3* WR, if he had been at that position at the time he was recruited. Based on the fact he's certain to have more TD receptions than any other Hawk in history, I'd call him more like "4-5 star quality".. I'm gonna miss that guy once he's gone.

He looks as if he's playing very hungry this season, also. You don't always see WR's looking so focused, determined and locked in. It's corny to say, but McNutt looks like he's playing "angry"...and it's awesome.

M2 has become one of my favorite Hawkeyes of all time. Didn't make the cut at QB so converted to receiver and dedicated himself to it. Professional demaeanor, class guy, deceptive speed, unbelievable hands, just a true Hawkeye through and through. Sorry, but it's a mancrush.

Ya, I'm in love with him also.

Marv is currently averaging over 100 yards per game. I'd love it if he could keep up that pace. If he does ... he not only takes over the Iowa all-time yardage record ... but he'll also likely KILL the TD record.

Given all the superlatives I've heard about the young man as a person ... it's cool to see such positives come his way. I truly hope that this ends up being a golden SR campaign for him!

Just wondering what exactly you would need to see to believe someone is good at football? McNutt is good as a receiver; ridiculously good. DJK wasn't a wideout in high school, either. You put guys where they belong based on talent, and Kirk seems to excel at that.

I'm pretty sure early in his career he played QB in garbage time against someone (I say this because I'm pretty sure I watched him play the position). Who knew he'd become what he has become.

He played against FIU the second game of his RS freshman season. He was switched to WR later that year and recorded his first career grab against Indiana.

Not saying I don't believe he is good. We all see the production that comes out of him week in and week out. It just amazes me that someone can switch positions and be so dominate. Seeks very well pc his ability and take one for the team mentality. I can't see many QB'S making a switch just to benefit the team.

I've been huge on McNutt since he switched to WR and got on the radar. What I think impresses me the most is the way he plays the game. Doesn't celebrate, doesn't show up opposition, just goes out day in and day out and gets the job done while taking a business like approach to the game. I hope he holds a number of career records before his time as a Hawkeye is over.

What I like most about McNutt is not only his performance on the field but off the field he is a terrific guy as well. I have not been this excited about an Iowa wide receiver since Quinn Early.

He does like his little crowd stare down after a TD, but I can live with that. Man playing with boys, feed him...
