McCaffey gets a $300,000 raise for getting in!

It's 'First Four'. While I agree with the sentiment that it doesn't feel like they are in unless they win Wednesday, they are technically 'in'

Why go here. The contract is what the contract is. You know this boils down to the kids. They could make a deep run in the bracket they are in. Do they want it or don't they. Im just taking the approach its one more Hawk game I get to watch. OK HAWKS its up to you now MAN UP

I wish fellow Hawk fans would stop trolling us with this "play in" crap. I am not a big fan of it either but even the first round game is part of the tournament, it is a field of 68 not a field of 64 with play in. It is only a matter of time before the NCAA expands it further.

Congrats to the coach for earning his raise, to bad he did not get it last season. If I am not mistake I believe this puts Frans contract towards the middle of the pack compared to other B1G coaches.

and it's actually only a $200K raise. If they didn't make the tourney he still would have received a bump of $100K in base salary next year.

Ok, but don't act like it is just the "hawk fans"...any national/respectable media person will call it a play in game...it is what it is...As Jon said...they are playing for an 11 seed in the tournament. Right now they are not seeded.

I know that "officially" it is the first round...but don't get ticked when people call a spade a spade.

Fran should turn it down for the garbage performance we saw the last month of the season. How hard is it to get your team turned around enough to beat Illinois, Indiana, or Northwestern??

I am always amazed at how many people believe that "the other guy" makes too much money. Never, never, have I hear someone say, "Geez. I make too much money."

Northwestern is an inexcusable loss, but Indiana has Farrell and Vonleh, who should be a lottery pick. Illinois was garbage early, but has been on fire for about two weeks. Indiana and Illinois are probably better than half the dog crap teams who got into the tourney, just like we were last year (granted, Indiana is over-reliant on 3 guys and if any of them has a bad night, they are downright atrocious).

Well worth it. Be a hater all you want, but Fran has improved this team each and every year since he came on board.
