The following is a statement from University of Iowa head men’s basketball coach Fran McCaffery in regards to freshman Peter Jok:

“I am currently in California recruiting and have not had an opportunity to gather all the facts of the OWI charge against Peter. When I return to Iowa City, and after being fully informed of the situation, we’ll deal with the facts at that time and operate in accordance with the rules and regulations of our student-athlete Code of Conduct.â€￾

Of course, the individual is the one who should take primary responsibility. However, it seems that teammates and friends should dial it up for each other, especially if they know a player needs it.
