McCaffery call in show

Hawk Talk with Fran McCaffery has really become a joke. As soon as anyone brings up something negative, he is immediately cut off and hung up on.

A guy called in about the end of season swoon and before he could even get the question out, Fran jumps in with. "Dude, dude, dude.......get your facts straight." Then Dolph hung up on him.

I used to really respect Fran for the way he gave honest answers and didn't dodge questions the way KF does. Fran has gotten so defensive with his answers. He seems to have a chip on his shoulder at all times. Who wants to listen to that?

Sure some callers are clueless. But Fran used to treat them with respect and try to educate them about the game. Now it seems like if a caller isn't calling in with sunshine and rainbows for the coaches and players, they won't give him the time of day.

Makes for a boring show.

I always wonder why coaches even do these things. Is it in their contracts? I'm assuming all coaches hate them.

I would just ask fran why his teams struggle and go stagnant with 5 minutes left in a close game. I might get hung up on but the facts are there

I would assume its in their contracts and they get a ton of money for it. The call in shows were kind of fun when they could talk about recruiting, but they don't really say anything worthwhile anymore.

I heard that call. I thought it was quite comical. I actually agree with Fran, get your facts straight if you plan to call in. There was nothing for him to teach there.

I think the caller got his seasons confused, but we all know what he was referring to. Scott Dochterman of the CR Gazette even did a story on it. For Fran and Dolph to pretend like no such thing exists is dishonest.

I believe the caller was referring to this from the story in the Gazette:"Over the last three years, the Hawkeyes have played 15 games where they had a chance to tie or win a game with 11 seconds or less left in regulation or overtime. Iowa owns a 4-11 record in those games and its success rate is stunningly bad."

I used to listen to those but haven't since Alford was there. Coaches won't break any news there. They just literally give 'coach speak' for a few hours. Dodge the negative ones like that and cash their checks. Yes it's a part of their contracts that they have to do those. Some fans love having the interaction with him makes them feel closer to the program I guess. I suppose it would me if they'd actually give you something. But again I stopped listening years ago so maybe it's different but it don't sound like it by what the OP mentioned.

Did Fran hang up on him or did Dolph?
