And the players are really executing. I love the way they switch and disguise their defensive schemes. I love the 3/4 court pressure with White hounding the ball handler. I've seen Indiana abuse quite a few teams this year with their dribble penetration. Not tonight. The Hawkeyes shut down penetration and the big guys did their job. Every guy played strong D. Just a few breakdowns. I think Jok and Uthoff really bother perimeter shooters with their length and footwork, and I've been impressed with Gesell and Oglesby staying in front of their opponents as well.

Their defense and length will really help them in The Dance.

There were also quite a few bail out foul calls where our interior guys were strait up. It was an incredible job of not collapsing too far and letting our bigs contest inside shots.

Playing team defense is awesome to watch.....they truly are helping each other out....keep it going......

Agree with OP. Not sure When the light went on exactly but it did. They are playing very good defense.

And I agree with you lightning and with NEIhawk...........Team defense. I've said it for several games.......our
Tough Defense and Aaron White consistency has been difficult to beat.

If we could get Woody and Gabe to finish a bit better, all take better care of the ball and VALUE every possession, we could be a
Very, very dangerous team.

GO HAWKEYES

I have noticed since the jNW game that when the hawks are in zone they really pass the ball handler off well to the next guy. They are closing better on the perimeter balancing out their coverage. In that jNW game they were overplaying and leaving guys wide open.

Perhaps this is the change Fran made. I also noticed they are working the high post hedge better in the man to man.

I think Uthoff is bothering everyone at this point. I've tried to watch the guys he blocks/defends...some of them look too concerned with where he is to be fully effective and some look like they have no idea how their shot got blocked. I'm still shocked at some of the shots he gets to. And I can't remember anyone ever blocking as many jump shots as he does, particularly without fouling very often.

For you older guys...at times, our defense looks like it has a bunch of Stacey Augmon clones on the floor together....all arms and hands.

Sometimes it's fun living elsewhere and not being able to see every game, because the improvements are more striking - like watching a nephew grow up you only see twice a year. The defensive improvement from 45 days ago is amazing, especially on the perimeter. Even Jok contributing on D???

Love it.

I thought they really did a good job of game planning and following that plan yesterday. Indiana drives to kick, they don't drive to score. We did a good job of sticking with their shooters when they did get penetration and staying with the ball handler too. There was a couple times Clemmons got beat into the lane but he didn't panic, just stayed right behind Yogi and forced him to circle back out.

The amoeba defense.

Really excited to watch Hawkeye ball. I don't have that feeling of "well here's the game they drop".

Can't wait to see what they do in the BTT would like to see them take another shot at MSU. I also think the team would like another shot at Whisky. This team look timid aginst them the first two times, but this team is more confident now.

I'll be in Seattle anyone know a good IOWA bar there?
