Maybe all this will boomerang into something positive

With all of the initial negative media attention and rushes to judgment by those with a pulpit to preach from, maybe it will cause more players, parents and others who know and have been influenced by Ferentz to speak out on how he, in fact, is the polar opposite of how he's been portrayed by these "journalists". Articles like Jon's, and the Matt Bowen column on Hawk Central, will spur others to speak out, and could actually turn the tables on this - and end up showing why Iowa is a great place to come to play football.

If the Athletic Department wants to get some positive PR out of this, I would suggest they get on the horn and contact some former players, those still in the NFL and otherwise, to speak to their local media types in their community about how Ferentz and the rest of the staff is being unfairly depicted. I would find it hard to believe that Dallas Clark, Pat Angerer and Bob Sanders couldn't find a columnist in Indy to hear what they have to say about Kirk, or Shonn Greene in New York, or Tony Moeaki in KC, Nate Kaeding in SD - you get the idea.

Don't sit back and passively take these ill-begotten slings and arrows from these drive-by journalists. Turn the tables on them.

Time to make some lemonade.
