"At first I really, really, really wanted to go to Iowa," [Cyrus] Kouandijo answered when asked where he was leaning in the fall. "I even told my best friend that I was going to Iowa. But when everything went down with them with the workouts and all, that was different. I had a bad vibe when I went there. Alabama may be far from home, but Iowa—living-style wise—it’s just out there and just not me. I wouldn’t have been able to thrive in that environment. I love their coaches and I love their team, but it was really just out for me."

That just makes me sick to my stomach.

Murphy and Andy had a great point about this. If you really read it, it doesn't sound like he was ever coming here, he was just hyped about it for a week or two and was never really 100% coming. He sounds like he already had one foot out the door before the rhabdo thing ever happened.

I don't know about that. Sounds to me like there was a better than even chance he was going to come here but got scared away after the rhabdo thing happened. We Hawkeye fans can be in denial about it but I think there's a good chance the excessive work-outs and rhabdo caused us to lose a 5 star recruit.

Iowa was never, ever, ever, ever, ever, ever the front runnner and he was never, ever, ever, ever, ever going to come to Iowa.

Yeah I don't think so. I think it had to do with wanting to be a big fish in a big pond and didn't like the Iowa atmosphere. As much as everyone believes Iowa City is a 'great' college town, it isn't Tuscaloosa. Seriously. If he really wanted to come to Iowa, the rhabdo wouldn't have scared him and if it did. oh well.

And he would also like to pass along a warm welcome to two weeks ago.

Darn it. I knew I should have taken that mind-reading class at Iowa while I was there.

Based on his own quote I do think there is a chance that it's true. De-Nile ain't just a river in Egypt.

You are the one that is in denial. You think it was all because of the workouts. I'm not saying that didn't play a part, but I'm saying it was that IC isn't exciting enough. He said that as well, or do you just pick to read the parts that fit your argument. I'm saying I don't think he was ever coming here (my opinion) and I think it was because he could go to a bigger town and got the love from them as well. Iowa was cold and not a great college city (you're in denial if you think it is amazing). I'm not saying rhabdo wasn't part, but it wasn't the only thing that "cost" us a 5* recruit.

That just makes me sick to my stomach.

What exactly made you sick to your stomach?? The fact he is not in Iowa City? He was never coming to Iowa. Life goes on ... One player does not make or break a program ...

That's ok. Hawks will do just fine with unheralded down to earth farm boys like Blythe. Kirk Ferentz could make a star lineman out of Bobby Hill. His dad sells propane you know.
