Gatens riding hot streak

That's why Gatens didn't think Sunday was one of his best games of the year, even considering the offensive numbers.
"Missed assignments, some of those things," he said. "I thought I could have done some things better."
"I think over time you've seen him grow and develop at both ends of the floor," McCaffery said. "He became a lockâ down defender. Nobody ever thought of him that way. He has the strength, the stamina, the length and the ability to do that. You couple that with the knowledge, he's locking people up."
McCaffery said Gatens' improvement as an overall player has come from his willingness to learn.
"You can coach them up, but you have to have somebody that has all of the ability to absorb everything and then carry it out on the floor every time out," he said. "That's what makes him special."
