Iowa is an opening 13.5 point favorite. This is the 1st game that the Vegas spread is slightly more than the Sagarin spread so maybe Vegas is starting to warm up on Iowa. Iowa is 5-1 against the spread and only didn’t cover against Wiscy.

Btw, Sagarin shows Maryland +12.5, PSU -5.5 and Purdue +7.5 for the next three games.
 
Whoa that is large!!!! Will we see Temple or TExas Maryland team. They have speed and athletes which can overcome a lot of other issues
 
Not surprising. Maryland offense is third in the B1G in rushing and at the bottom passing. That said. They can be dangerous with their athleticism.

Iowa's defense is good against the rush. Decent against the pass. But this is the B1G you can't take anyone for granted.
 
That's a pretty rich spread. I hope they are right. MD's best RB, Ty Johnson, is listed as questionable and may have pushed that spread up.
 
Iowa's defense has been pretty good at keeping the play ahead of them. Maryland ran wild on Minnesota, Rutgers, and Bowling Green. Gouging them for big run plays. I don't know what happened to Minnesota, but Rutgers and Bowling Green are 121st and 130th in run defense out of 130 teams. Maryland doesn't have much of a pass offense but Texas pass defense was almost non-existent in that game. I think odds makers are calling Maryland a paper tiger.

My guess is Maryland will try to confuse Iowa's run defense the way they did to Minnesota. Will it work against Iowa's young defensive backfield?

No. The DE's will set the edge and force the runs inside. I predict that Maryland uncorcks 1 or 2 big runs, but struggles to put the ball in the endzone. I actually think we cover this spread, but just barely. 31-17 Iowa stays hot.
