Martez Wilson No. 8 in Big Ten

I usually like Rittenberg's analysis but this sucks. Wilson had a good year, especially compared to his first two years at Illannoy but making him a top ten player when the coaches didn't even pick him as first team all Big Ten, WTF?

Martez is a great athlete and I think the analysis is based on what he will do in the NFL and not what he did at Zookerland. NFL execs feel he is a future pro-bowler and I have to say I agree. I remember when he came out of HS I thought he looked as if he could go directly to the NFL then. Not sure I agree with top 10 but he will certainly go in the 1st round. Kind of like how they look at Stanzi. His college career was good but most people don't think he will be in the top 4 rounds. NFL people like his upside and he could go in the 2-3rd round. Crazy game.

Just imagine how good he could have been had he gone to a school with a coaching staff that could have gotten his full potential out of him. He could have been a top 10 pick.

Iowa was in on him late and so was about every other major program. I agree that he would have been much better at Iowa with the development he would have received. I hope in the future that HS players pay attention to Iowas recent history of putting guys in the NFL. If you look at Angerer and Tony M. as well as Edds, it should help sway them. By the way, Edds was making a name for himself when he tore his acl in preseason last year with Miami. I lived in Ft. Lauderdale and listened to the chatter every morning on my way to the office. They are really high on him coming back this year and getting a lot of game time.

Martez' development was also hindered by the fact that he was stabbed in a bar fight (He helped a guy being jumped and was stabbed twice for his troubles).

I imagine walking around with this wound probably slowed him down a step for some time...
