Marble watched the draft with friends and family at local bar and grill in his hometown of Southfield, Michigan. UI head coach Fran McCaffery, the Hawkeye coaching staff and teammates Melsahn Basabe and Anthony Clemmons were among those in attendance.

"There is no way we wouldn't be here," said McCaffery. "We were so happy to be part of this night for him and to share it with his family. It is a highlight in anybody's coaching career to see one of the guys you love get his name called."

I'm too lazy to look for the link but I predicted that Marble would be a late second round pick two years ago and I just wanted to gloat.

Only thing I didn't like, he was drafted during a commercial break, and they didn't mention him when they got back. I wanted to see the "experts" break down and predictions. It will be interesting seeing Devyn step directly into Aaron Afflalo's roll with the Magic.

I have to say something - you seem to have a really big chip on your shoulder vis a vis your intelligence for an MD. Are you really a doc, or were you joking? (I'm only asking because most MD's I have known in my life you'd never peg as docs outside of their practice - more of a quiet air of an intelligence more so than a "law school is for poseurs!" air)

I do love how Fran and staff are loyal and really see their roles as being there all the way for their players, thru their lives, even post-grad. Fran is a great fit at Iowa and the Hawkeye family environment.
