Man D

Granted part of it was the fact that Michigan plays a guard oriented lineup that can torch a 2-3 zone, but Fran stayed away from the zone for the most part.

Maybe I'm old school, but I love good man D and the Hawks played it today and I cringe when we play zone. Even on Tuesday against the buckeyes we played zone which left craft, a 25% 3 pt shooter, all alone and he knocked a couple down.

I don't mind switching it up with some press and some zone on a throw in and mixi it up a few times throughout the game but I would prefer to play mostly man!!

Thoughts?

Hard to play full court man...so I like full court zone and drop into half court man which is primarily what Iowa does. I do like a little matchup zone in the half court to switch things up.

The hawks showed last year in second half of season and nit that they were really playing good man to man. I still like it when Fran changes once in awhile. If they press the opponent might 27 seconds left on the shot clock after crossing halfcourt, if they think its man but it takes a few seconds to find its zone, then they have to work it around so the change can leave them with less time on a possession to get a good shot.

But you dont rebound as well out of zone.

But overall our Man Dee causes more tough shots, gets good rebound position and forces more turnovers all of which fuel the fast break.

Got to love in your face man defense where you deny passes to Michigan's best shooter. Stauskas just looked smothered all game.
