Gave a verbal to DePaul today. I really hope we ceased recruiting him and he didn't choose a mid-major over us. That would be yet another kick in the balls. Man, this program needs some good news and fast.

I guess I have never considered Depaul a "mid-major". But I agree it would be nice to get some good news on the recruiting front. Hopefully it is coming soon.

Not in terms of conference membership per se, but I was speaking more in terms of talent, history, prestige, etc. They were arguably worse than we were last year, and that's saying a lot.

DePaul is in the Big East, has a new coach, and Brooks is a local kid. Brooks is a academic question mark,possibly,also....just saying.

You must be really young. Please Google DePaul Basketball and some coach named Ray something;).

From what I understand, Coach McCaffery would have had a difficult time getting him to qualify academically for Iowa, so we moved on. But I am also very anxious to get some good news. Seems as though everyone else is signing recruits and we are still waiting for decisions. Not discouraged, just antsy.

I completely agree with this. It seems to be getting very late in the game right now to not have any recruits ready to jump on board. This staff has had a long enough time to get someone to commit here by now.

I think we all know they are waiting on Olgesby to finish his visits to Minny,Ill,and ASU ...the next three weekends, and he will decide in the first two weeks of October...that is part of the process and not much you can do about that. I suspect many recruits are taking campus visits in Sept and we are waiting to hear from other also.

I do fear that if Oglesby does not fall our way that it could be a real struggle in the PR dept. I am not paniced, just anxious.

I've read on other teams boards that he is Iowa's to lose. I cringe at the thought of him in Goofy or Illannoy uni.

He may be more than an academic liability. One of his social networking sites has pics of him and a large group of Bloods throwing up gang signs. Maybe Fran was aware of this and decided he's not the type of student athlete we need at Iowa no matter his skill level. Either way, I trust Fran and hope we sign some quality guys soon. How many schollies do you think he'll use for the '11 class?

I guess I am anxious over worried as well. And from TOS Brooks gave his transcripts here and he wouldn't have been able to get in here.

IAJay,

I would've guessed that DePaul had higher standards for admittance than Iowa.

If you take a look at the basketball program and how many players have issues then you wouldn't think that. DePaul has had many players leave that would not have been eligible the next season.
Wilson Chandler and Quinton Richardson are just a couple that were able to go to the NBA, there are many that just faded into nothingness.
As far as Brooks, if he is an academic question mark, then I don't want him at Iowa anyway. Iowa needs no more black-eyes in that respect.

Depaul, former power in the Big-East, is now a mid major. They have been bad lately but Depaul is still in an power conference. In fact it is in the power conference, stacked top to bottom. By this argument, Iowa is also a mid-major for bottom feeding in the Big Ten for the last half decade.

Yes and Iowa St is right there as well, now why don't you just get the **** out of here. All you do is bring crap up about how bad Iowa is or they have no chance to sign this kid or that kid but yet ISU has all these transfers so look out in 2011.

I simply stated a fact, posted by idiot posters. Kool Aid drinkers abound in this forum, especially on the basketball site. Why don't you find a job?

Seriously are you 12? The only idiot in this thread is you. Run down Iowa's program over the last 5 years when ISU's hasn't been any better, now that is smart.

How am I running down their program, or promoting ISUs? Trust me, you are being overly sensitive here. Iowa has been bad. ISU has been bad. They are both lousy. My comments have simply suggested that Hoiberg is willing to take on a lot of risk to turn it around. I think McCaffery will have to do some of the same, and soon to get the Iowa program on track. I miss the Orr and Davis matchups which were actually relevant on a national level.
