MTSU (28-5, 19-1 in the Sun Belt, RPI 27 after loss) just lost in the semis. They were listed as a 12 seed. Not sure where/if they'll fit in his next update. Could slide everyone up one spot (if they're out) or down one spot (if they're still in).

Won't slide anyone up one spot because whomever wins the Sunbelt takes their place.

This is a frustrating part of the NCAA tournament. To me, the lower tier conferences ought to have their automatic bid reserved for the league play conference title winner. It keeps more qualified teams out of the tournament and/or often keeps the best team from that conference from making the tournament if they don't win the tournament. It's hard to know where to draw the line on who is a top tier vs. lower tier conference, I realize, but a team like Liberty shouldn't be automatically allowed in just because they got on a short hot streak, and won their (fake) conference tournament.

Looks like the Mid Tenn loss just dropped Iowa a spot according to Lunardi.

MTSU has 0 top 50 wins, they've only played 5 top 100 teams all season and are 2-3 against them. Teams like that should not get in over bubble power conference teams. Major conference teams are held to tougher standards which is not fair.

Can't agree more. Stockpiling wins in the Sun Belt should not be rewarded over playing in a tough league. So basically Iowa is being punished for winning a bunch of soft non-conference games and Mid Tenn is being rewarded for winning soft conference games? Makes no sense.

I'm not saying Iowa deserves to be in, but some consistency on criteria would be refreshing.

Why? A team like MTSU does not belong in the tournament if they can't win their conference tournament.

Not saying mtsu specifically, but major conference teams get plenty of opportunities to do their work...mid-majors have to use creative scheduling to help themselves.

I have zero issues with mid-majors that deserve to be there get in. The committee for years ignored this and I have been happy to see George Mason, Butler and VCU do what they have. Good teams get left out every year and a lot of times they are the little guys.

Middle Tennessee will not make it in the tourney. Their best win is a 3 point home win over Mississippi. 1 top 100 win. No chance.

Lunardi is very overrated when it comes to his profession.

Two things:

First, the RPI is antiquated BS of the stankest order. Ditch it, it's worthless and a horrible predictor.

Second, I'd like to mule kick Lunardi square in the crotch.

Thank you, and have a nice day.

The tournament is a great thing...its not perfect, nor is the system...but it produces amazing entertainment every single year.

Some may not like the selection process this year, because Iowa is more than likely going to be left out.

But when you sit back and look at what Iowa did, or didn't do in the OOC, then you see those five close losses in league play and if Iowa would have just gone 2-3 in those games, or 4-4 in the eight games they played in Big Ten decided by four points or less (they went 2-6), there's your answer; the man in the mirror.

But those 5 close losses should account for something and in the RPI they don't. The RPI it counts as a loss whether they lose by 2 or 20. The entire point of having a human committee is to get the best 37 at larges into the tournament and seed them. I would think they would want the team that has proved they can play with anybody.

What bothers me is that Iowa finished alone in 6th place in the toughest league in the country and we will probably miss the Dance in favor of one or two teams that finished below the Hawks. In fact, they finished two and three seeding spots below them. That, to me, is what isn't fair. But it is what it is and the Hawks just need to deal with the hand dealt.

GO HAWKS!!!
