Lunardi: iowa still a 2 seed

Wow he might be the only one still thinking that. Palm has Iowa as a 3 seed and USA Today has Iowa as a 4 seed and completely out of Des Moines.

Iowa got pretty lucky that Oklahoma and UNC both lost last night too.

I would bet that most of those projections have Michigan State ahead of Iowa which won't happen if we have similar records. The 3 and 4 seeds aren't that strong. We are still in great position if we start playing better.

Duke and Kentucky having a big winning streak would probably bump us off as well. As long as we are a 4 seed or better I'll be happy. Would like the midwest as a 2 seed or better, but a 3 or 4 seed doesn't hurt you that much. Still have to play good basketball in March with any of those seeds.

Still a lot of fun games to be watching as a hawkeye fan. The fans that think we will drop out of the rankings need to watch other games besides the last Hawks loss. I mean that in regards to other teams. This year is crazy and we are in mid February with our first bad loss. Most teams come tournament time have a bad loss. Nothing is f'd.

I'd prefer to stay off the 4/5 line, since a Sweet 16 matchup is almost certainly with a 1 seed. I prefer to stay on the 2/3 side of the bracket. That's my hope.

At this point, I've written off a 1 seed. If Iowa wins out, then maybe.

As frustrated as I am I'd still rather be Iowa with their record versus a hot Wisconsin team and their record and an 8 seed

That's very true but if there is a year to play a 1 seed then this is the year to plqy em. And if somehow you beat that one seed now your schedule gets really easy

Agreed. There's not much difference between the 1's and 2's this year. At least as a 4-5 seed, you wouldn't face them until the Sweet 16, so a better possibility of an upset before then.

I think Iowa CAN beat any team in the country on any given day - if they're playing their A game.

Why does everyone act like we got so lucky...as if Oklahoma and North Carolina are unlucky? Oklahoma has lost 3 out of 4. North Carolina has lost 3 out of 5...and beat a horrible Boston College team by 3 for 1 of the wins. I should note they beat Boston College by 27 the first time they played.

Win 3 out of 4 and we're no worse than a 2 seed IMO. I anticipate a "reset" during this off week and a 4-0 finish. Most of us knew this team needed a break and were just hoping they could sneak out 1 more win before the bye. A loss may actually be better as it relates to the long term goal(s).

Most years, the problem comes down to Iowa needs others to lose because they can't take care of their own business at some point during the season and come up short. Finally, this season, the Hawks have been given a pot-o-gold, as far as this type of luck. They have never had more control of their own destiny by simply sustaining smart play and consistent effort in order to beat inferior teams. Unfortunately, the common truth is always exposed, can't take care of their own business and seize opportunity.

Yesterday was one game and we lost by 3 points...still haven't lost a game by more than 7 all year. We're undefeated at home with 2 more home games to play.

We do control our destiny. We have to play smart and consistent and beat inferior teams in the next 4 games to win the Big 10...just like you said. It's all still right there in front of us.

The guys have to decide if they have the same goal they had 14 games ago. Because that goal is still very much attainable and won't require any major upsets to accomplish. Win 6 more games and we're regular season champions and a 1 or 2 seed in the NCAA Tournament. There's a lot of basketball left to play.

We are still in great position to at least tie for the Big 10 title. We've had several good road wins so I see no reason we can't pull out wins in Columbus or Ann Arbor. We also have yet to lose at home which makes me like our chances against Wisconsin and Indiana. I think a 3 seed is the worst case scenario for this team. One bad loss doesn't ruin a season so let's hang in there and keep supporting the team.

Apparently someone hacked your account last night.

Go read your posts from last night. And then read your posts today.

Either you were hacked, are bipolar, or just thinking your funny by playing fumb.

I did look through them and I don't see the big deal. A lot of people were frustrated and venting. It's just how it is during a game like that, but it's just one game and it's important to stay positive.

What a difference a mere 14 hours can make for some folks' outlook on things. ;)

Ok this post answered my question on whether or not you were serious last night. Well done.
