There is nothing original to say about our talent or deficiencies, so I won't go there. What is most disheartening to me is that year 2 of McCaffrey is identical to year 1. The team plays poor defense, seems completely disconnected on offense with key players in funks and no chemistry. Last year we attributed it to Cartwright being new, Gatens being hurt, new style, coach, etc. What is it this year?
This is a rhetorical question and I think we all know the answer/s. I was hoping for maybe 5 more wins than last year and to be competitive later into games / possibly the whole game. Instead we have been shelled by one top 25 team (Creighton) and two teams who will, IMO, have rather pedestrian seasons. Clemson played 6 freshman and Bo-Bo from Transylvania, yet completely embarassed us at home in a game that was critical to save the fan morale.
Losses give the fans hope that the next game's outcome will be different. Blowouts demoralize fans and cause them to lose interest. I am a diehard hoops fan and and will never lose interest, but my faint hope for some semblance of a semi-competitive team went out the window last night.
