Loss not the end of the world

We really needed this game, but I'm revising my proprietary scenario generator to say that at this point to stay alive in the B10 hunt, we absolutely must win at each of Indiana, Purdue and Illinois. I had previously projected we would lose one of those, but win tonight and finish 15-3. 15-3 is still possible, but we have got to go 3-0 in those pivotal games.

I wasn't really surprised but its disappointing because I want this team to take that next step - and they just didn't do it tonight.

Aaron White will not let us lose to Michigan a second time. He is starting to realize that no one can stop him from scoring, if he stays aggressive. We had a bit of an off night. Didn't hit the 3 ball. Meat chicken got every lucky bounce in the game, not just because of hustle, EVERY LUCKY bounce. We still had a fighting chance in the game. So, no it's not the end of the world. Hurts a bit. Maybe some motivation to get back in the top 10. I was watching hawk talk the other week. Fran said "yes it's nice to win a big game, but we want to peak in April", after the osu win. I believe this team is still working out some rotation kinks, and have not played their best ball yet. I hope Fran is right and that time comes in the tourney.

This is my thoughts as well. We are a good team but one that cant make as many mistakes as tonight, especially against a good team...at their house.

We are a legit top 20 team with potential for top 10-15. Dang hard to break into elite status. I still am elated when I think where we've come from in just 3-4 years.

Played a little sloppy, not a great game from the bench, didnt make much from 3, didnt have a lot of bounces go our way, played a good team on the road...and were STILL in it till the end.

Losses suck, especially with as close as we are to something very special. But still promise of a Very Very good season ahead.

Need to beat NW and play a good, maybe great game against MSU.

Fun to watch again though...even in a loss..

Won't be the last road loss, most likely. Need to win the ones we "should" and hold court at home.

A couple big upsets would be nice though !

We just have to win the next 3 - @ NW, MSU and @ Illinois. If we take care of these 3 as we should then we're 7-2 and in good shape at the halfway point. The games at Michigan State and Minnesota are the 2 scariest of the 2nd half IMO. We're fine...but have to get the next 3 if we entertain hopes of winning the regular season title IMO.

I thought winning at Crisler would be really tough, Mich and MSU have been really tough on the hawks over the last 30 years. We played average and only lost by 8, 3 possessions, clean it up and keep winning

The only bad thing is that we had to win tonight if we want a realistic shot at the winning the B1G this year. I think that is gone and we probably finishing at best 12-6 in conference play. which is still pretty good this year with our schedule.

Michigan looks really tough to me. Hardly the end of the world losing that game, and Iowa probably will not drop much at all in the polls. Couple spots maybe?

Still, it just killed me watching this team make dumb mistakes in key moments of the game.. Watching our 3's go half way down and come back out.. Iowa was right there despite not playing well, but it simply didn't play well enough.

Just as long as Iowa shows up for NW, it should take care of business there, and the MSU game will still be a big one. I honestly look for Iowa to beat the Spartans next week. We seem to give them a lot of grief any time we aren't playing them in East Lansing.

That game in Champaign.. That building has been a house of horrors, but this is the first time in a long time where I actually expect Iowa to win that one, or maybe it's more accurate to say that I don't EXPECT them to lose. Yep, I like our chances of going 3-0 over the next 3. Will it happen?

Not the end of the world ... but it still sux! Expected the loss; predicted the loss; struggling to accept the loss (shame on me for lapping up all the F-4 / media hype and fantasizing how awesome that would be).

Now that Hawks have been put back in their place (predicted 3rd place finish in B1G), it's time to focus on beating those you should, defending home court and playing for seed / good bracket matchup.

Still ... I just can't shake how boring, stupid and heartbreaking that is ... I'm getting depressed, again ...

GOOD BYYYYYyyyeeeecruueelB1G road
